Hi guys,
I'm currently at Newcastle doing my LL.B and all i can say is that I absolutely love it. The city is amazing, it offers the variety most people would want- but its still compact- so you can walk almost everywhere. The law school is quite small, but it has its own very good library and the staff is ace. Since its quite small, you get to know all the lecturers very well and that is a big plus not only when it comes to teaching but also for recommendations and the like. I'm going to King's next year for my LL.M but I can say without doubt that I will miss that Law school SOOO much!! I know this is very subjective,
but hope it helps a little!

I can't tell anything about School itself, (Newcastle University seems to be really nice place) yet their Commercial Law LLM has a "peculiar" selection of subjects. You must choose 3 from 11 with half (around 5) of them connected to the environment law plus some human rights, public international law, IP... It's very individual and if You're looking for those, it's completely fine. But check other Unis so You can compare.
In my search for a LLM I decided to focus on structure of the degree and subjects I can study in each institution to build curriculum suiting me the most. If that's Your case about Newcastle, then why not? That's all I can say... :-).

Actually I have a offer from Nottingham for International Commercial Law and after selection of all the offers I'm trying to choose between Nottingham and QM. Their range of subjects is very good and You can combine staff You wish/need to study and highly related to selected field with something of Your interest or pure curiosity :-). Mixture of full year classes and half courses allows to make it valuable and enjoyable as well. In my point of view. Check their website and modules available in each specialism (same as mine I presume :-) and You will see.
Their tuition fees are affordable (its cheaper than Newcastle).
I can't say anything about neither city, never been to UK before :-). Sorry.
Kind Regards.

Not yet to be honest. I have like 10 offers and selecting those 2 was frustrating enough ;-).
Nottingham: cheaper/good reputation/good subjects.
QM: London :-).
Tough choice.

Hi there,
I chose Nottingham a few years ago for an LLM in commercial law over London and have never come to regret that choice. The flexibility in terms of the choice of modules offered by Nottigham was great and I felt that it catered for a wider range of interests within the field of commercial law. I also liked the fact that the groups in Nottingham were very small and I had the impression that the individual student and his/her contribution really mattered.
As for the city - it's like having an affordable version of London :), and not nearly as anonymous. There is a very vibrant and varied nightlife , there is theatre, opera etc. and it is nice to bump into people you know on a night out. The graduate student community is very active and we were left spoilt for choice.
Also, the fact that everyone was living in close proximity meant that meeting up or going out was never a hassle where you had a long commute for a night out.
And in the worst case, London is only a bit more than 2 hours away by train ;-)
