Name ON LLM Degree (Seeking Help)

rabia12

I am an International Student nd I'm seeking admission in UK universities for LLM course.

I was wondering whether I can use a slightly different name on my Degree/Certificate of LLM just before completing the course. I know it sounds silly but I am little confused at the moment because the name that I have on previous Certificates/Degrees is not same as of my Passport.

My Full Name(That i have on my passport ) is: Rabia Iqbal Butt whereas the one that I have on my previous certificates is: RABIA IQBAL only..

I got offer letter from few UNI's addressing me "Miss. Butt"

I am so much confused at the moment because as an International Student, I am supposed to be enrolled in the university by using exactly the same name that I have on my Passport. otherwise they'l refuse my VISA.

Regards
Rabia

P.S. (-In my country, most of the students do not include their family name with their name-)

I don't have a definitive answer for you, but I do know that the U.K. immigration system is getting a lot tighter, particularly when it comes to student visas. Regarding your name, I would do whatever the U.K. immigration rules require - otherwise you could end up not getting a visa.

If your home country uses shortened names on degree certificates, no one will question why you have your full name on a foreign degree certificate -- they'll understand differences in convention. If you plan to work in the UK, get your previous universities to write a letter confirming your full name.

I doubt a UK university will allow you to omit your surname from a degree certificate.
