Hello all.
I'm curious to see what recent grads (2011 class; inaugural class as far as I understand) are doing now to help determine if this program may be right for me. I have found a few relevant profiles on LinkedIn and a few people (i.e. U.S. JD holders) are working in NY and a few others at large firms in Europe. However, from looking around online, I have only found about 5 of the recent graduates. Does anyone know what other professional employment other graduates may have been able to obtain?
I also noticed that most of these recent graduates had no, or almost no prior working experience, which makes me wonder if my background with 3 years of experience at a large NY based firm might result in this program not being the best option for me. I am also hesitant in that I dont know how large firms may view my taking a one-year academic leave to complete the MLF upon my return to the job market. Are there are any current MLF candidates or recent graduates out there that might be able to provide some insight?
Lastly, the oxford website seems to not have been updated for the 2012-2013 academic year yet, but applications appear to be due nonetheless by January 20, 2012 (http://www.law.ox.ac.uk/mlf/). Does anyone know if that's correct?
Thanks and best.

Hi Raised_Boston! Have you also checked MCL offered by Cambridge? I think that the majority will be students with a substantial work experience. The class size will be really small as well and they aim to designate it as the most elite legal programme in the country.

It doesn't really seem like the Cambridge MCL and Oxford MLF are targeting the same students. The MLF includes three mandatory courses in financial economics and corporate finance (the MCL has none). The MLF is going to appeal, therefore, to people looking for a more rigorous quantitative program. In contrast, the MCL seems like it's just a rebranded LLM with a specialization in business law.
Cheers,
Paddy

With no bull market in sight, does a specialized finance LL.M. still make sense?
