I'm currently a Bachelor of Arts/Bachelor of Laws student at a top Australian university, and am wondering what weight Oxford or Cambridge would put on my marks for the Bachelor of Arts. I understand that I would need a first class honours for the Bachelor of Laws, which I am on track for, but my Arts marks are relatively low due to some extenuating circumstances I faced early in my degree. Would it be worthwhile to add an entire year to my degree to do a Honours in Arts, secure a high first class for that, and stand a better chance for these LLMs?
Any advice for getting into either course would be highly appreciated!

I wouldn’t add an entire year to your degree for a slight increase in your chances. Your chances honestly are low regardless. Oxbridge has medalists in law, people with publications, and those with other extraordinary work experience and/or backgrounds. Virtually everyone has a first, so while perhaps necessary it’s also not sufficient. I don’t mean to discourage you from applying, but I’d graduate on time, keep expectations reasonable, and apply to a few other places too.

Thank you does that make a lot of sense - would any other UK universities’ LLMs offer similar courses and teaching? Are there any that you would recommend?

No others in the UK have the same global reputation and prestige of Oxbridge obviously, but the London unis of LSE, UCL, and KCL are all considered to be very good.
