Glasgow anyday....!! especially for this academic year....i would rate Manchester to the rank of 50th in UK....much below Kent University also....!
I would suggest Glasgow University (Unless you are a die-hard fan of the Manchester Football team)

NEED HELP PLEASE: I should be most grateful if you could please help me with the following scenario: let s suppose that I get admission with the condition to meet the 7 IELTS requirement. Let s say that I achieve a 6.5. Am I able to attend the LLM anyway? Can I compensate with a English course at the uni?
Thank you very much indeed for your goodness. The IELTS exam is killing me. I am doing past papers and I am not doing very well

Yes...But is subjective..! with a 6.5...i think you should get in....I hope your other qualifications are good...! If they feel you have studied english in past for a substansive part your education...then they may give you a English Course...and grant an unconditional offer...!

Thanks a lot legalIndia. In addittion I am going for a month internship to Singapore,.Hope this helps me.

Woo...Woo...!!
I think you don't need a IELTS....but still if they have asked for itt...its ok...and if you have studied in English at all these places...you should easily get 7.5.....! Its kinda easy...!
I had appeared for TOEFL....i scored 114/120.....and i didn't study anything before that...so kinda very simple...!
Anyways...you are India...thats great which City ?

Glasgow, without a shadow of a doubt. They've recently made some excellent commercial law appointments. Its also a small(ish) school with a great environment. The main campus is beautiful, and the surrounding city has something for everyone.

Hi LegalIndia. I have accepted the NTU LLM Corporate Law. One aspect I do not get it is why all the people speak very well about NTU when is ranked in 44 position. In addition, people usually say that is even better than Mancheser when that one is ranked 16I do not knowI am quite confused. I am going to NTU because the LLM Corporate is very good; however I do not about job prospectus... once the employer have applicants with an LLM from unis better ranked.any chance for NTU post-graduates?
Posted Apr 22, 2009 08:13
dont worry chances of NTU LLM is simply great....becoz many of the Law firm Partners have themselves done their LLM at NTU....!
Coming to the part of ranking....there are a few points you should note down:
1. These rankings are strictly LLB rankings...that is undergraduate rankings....not even close to LLM rankings
2. The rankings are based on factors such are the Library, available accomodation, faculty: student ratio, extra-curricular activities, Events, Fairs, Guest Lecturers, Number of Courses offered, the average IELTS marks of all the admitted students, Number of International Students, the number of student service bodies, etc...!
So now lets consider this example...! (its hypothectical...but close to reality)
Library:
Manu- 10/10 (5 lac books)
NTU- 5/10 (1 lac books)
Average of IELTS marks:
Manu - 9/10
NTU - 5/10
Course Content:
Manu - 7/10
NTU - 9/10
Sudent Saisfaction
Manu - 7/10
NTU - 8/10
Student Service bodies:
Manu 8/10
NTU 7/10
International Students:
Manu 8/10
NTU 6/10
Graduate Prospects:
Manu 6/10
NTU 8/10
Course Content:
Manu 7/10
NTU 9/10
So the summary is that in overall Rankings...Manu is way ahead.....but in actuality...if you want a good Job and good course content...you would select NTU...!!
So from the above example....I can only convey One Message to you.....
See your needs and then decide which University you want admissions into...check whether, what you are seeking is avilable with University or not...!
(the above ratings are my prespective...they may be completely different from your prespective...I don't claim it tto be always 100% accurate in any manner)

Wow, Legal India thank you very much for your explanation, as usual very helpful. So NTU seems not be that bad after all. I am waiting to hear from Frankfurt (I have been put in a waiting list since 2 months ago, so all indicates that I will not get admission), Durham and The University of Nottingham. I think I will only reject NTU in case getting admission in Durham and Frankfurt.

On a different note, in your earlier message you stated that many partners have their LLM at NTU, do u know where can I check this?
Do you know if NTU organizes meetings with law firms? What I want to know is whether there are contacts between law firms and the university where the student can get in touch with them

I think many partners in Freshfields or some firm like that have studied at NTU...!
And some students have claimed with evidentary proof that most major law firm partners have passed their degree from NTU...!
I think you might find something reagrding this in Nottingham vs NTU discussion board...! Check it out...!
There may be loads of contacts between law firms and NTU....but not all of them may be accessible to LLM students...! But even otherwise its gonna be helpful..!

Hi everybody
I do not agree with you, Im studying at the University of Manchester (LLM) and I think that it is an excellent university, the facilities that we have here are perfect, the library is excellent, professors are very approachable and competent, and please legal-India give me a break how can you say that NTU is better than Manchester, I know at least 6 persons from different nationalities who have been accepted by NTY and rejected by Manchester???!!!!

you can sure have a break...Have KIT KAT....it tastes good...lol..!
Well....its not sufficient to say....this is perfect and that is excellent and this is excellent...!!
I would say...India...is excellent...its perfect...but that is only my prespective...! The statistics may show something else and reality may also show something else...!!
And yes...you may be knowing students who have selected by NTU and being rejected by Manchester...! Highly Possible...but I have not known a single student in my city who has been rejected for Law as well as Finance....every single individual whom I know has applyied is given an offer...kinda a shocking....where is manchester going to accomodate so many students..has it increased the number of intakes by 2 times....!!
And I just read on another board on this site that KCL rejected a girl and she was accepted by UCL within the same week....that does not make KCL better than UCL in anyway....lol...!
Similarly.....a student was rejected by LSE...but accepted at Cambridge....Would you again argue that LSE is better than Cambridge...??? Those these factors play a good role...but sole reliance cannot be placed on these....
So in this case...i woudl rather trust a finally judegement of a person who is either a part of both Universities...or who is neither a part of both Universities. Within that also, I would trust only the person who has attended both Univerisities.
A person who has either attended only Manchester...i surely going to promote the value of Manchester alone instead of giving impartial view....And neither would a student from NTU saying anything against NTU...!
Whatever, I have stated in the above posts....is on the basis and understanding which I have had from whatever the students of Manchester and the students of NTU said...! So its my view and my present understanding....!
If you have anything to show me contradicting my opinion, I would really appreciate...and i would immediately change my stand against Manchester if it is satisfactory...
But just on the mere ground that a student is saying that Manchester is Excellent and Perfect without any details...I would accept the Manchester offer...!
And the bottom line of my arguement is that Glasgow it is....I am not prefering Manchester as of right now..!
(no Offence)
