LSE vs. NYU@NUS

Hey guys,
Please tell me whether to go for LSE or for NYU@NUS.

I am having 35,000 USD scholarship from NYU@NUS and I would be spending about 15,000-20000 more. On the other hand I am having a conditional offer from LSE that I need to score atleast 65% in my LL.B....that's no issue and i can easily do that. However, in LSE I have not been given any graduate merit award and seeing the overall picture it seems to get a scholarhsip.

I have spoken to some lawyers and they have recommended NYU@NUS over LSE as geeting a job in UK would be more difficult and since the money I would be spending for LSE would be three times of NYU@NUS.

Moreover, I am getting IP in LSE...how's IP there?

What do you guys suggest?

I agree. Go to LSE if you can. It is a world class institution, with a reputation as good as Oxbridge in some areas. If your area of interest is IP, however, I would put UCL slightly over LSE (simply because Laddie is at UCL). I'm not sure about the IP program at NYU@NUS, but if it is anything like NYU in NY, then you would probably still be better off with LSE. I believe that Professor Dreyfuss (who is the main IP academic at NYU) does not always teach (due to her admin work) and I would certainly doubt that she would teach in the NYU@NUS.

I hope this helps you make a decision.

Can you comment on the preferences between

1. Cambridge
2. Columbia Law School (NY-USA)
3. LSE

The field of interest is Corporate and finance laws. I agree that NYU-NUS may not be a relevant comparison here.

Hi

I didn't block you. Must be some error.

In fact I wrote a nice long mail to you and when I tried to send it, it just would not go.

Will try again.

Hello Adi_invincible,

When you enroll in the NYU@NUS Programme you have the opportunity to receive two different Master's Degree. NYU offers two specializations in Singapore (Human Rights and US and Asian Business and Trade Law) and NUS offers several specializations that you can pursue including IP Law.

If you want to find out more information about the IP specialization I recommend you to check the NUS LLM Programme in Singapore.

Good luck!

From what 've read on this post, Columbia is the best for Corporate law over both LSE and Cambridge - but I might be wrong.

it depends on many different factors. broadly speaking 1.Cambridge
2. LSE
3. Columbia

LSE and Columbia are both good schools and there are some opportunities to apply to do a degee where you start at LSE and finish at Columbia...so the two schools have good links. In my personal opinion LSE has a slightly better name in USA then Columbia does in the UK. All three universities are awesome though. good luck!

I don't agree with apeman, Columbia is better than LSE or Cambridge and it is far more marketable.
Please be advised that this is the opinion of some UK and US partners of my Law Firm (UK Magic Circle Firm) to which I spoke before sending out my applications.
