I applied to UCL on October 24 and I received on December 11 a letter by post (dated October 31) stating that they had received my documents and that I was supposed to received an answer from them on December 12. Logically I panic because that meant the letter was supposed to arrive the following day and it was impossible since I live overseas (VERY FAR WAY BELIEVE ME!) so i wrote them an email asking them when I was supposed to receive the letter because it was taking a very long time by standard mail. It almost took a month and a half for that letter to arrive and I was concerned that if I received an offer and it arrives like a month after then my deadline to accept the offer would have passed. I wrote a lot but if you read carefully u can understand. Do you think I should call them also??

there seems to be some problem with the web page in respect of the scholarship column...
it cant have been rejected so soon because they dont even look at the scholarship applications till an offer has been made...
and given that everyone of is facing the same problem, there surely is something amiss with the system..
i wrote e-mails to three different departments (admissions, financial support, law) at lse regarding the above stated problem and none of them seem to have bothered to reply.
its been a week since i wrote in, so it hasnt really rung the bells in their ears...
hopefully, we can get the problem sorted out for a positive result...

finally, there was an answer from the graduate finance department, which says that they are facing some technical problems with the online scholarship status and that the applications are still alive...
there was another system generated e-mail giving information regarding the 2 week haitus in the application process. (due to the christmas and new year)
so they havnt made it a happy 2008 but hopefully they can gift us a happy 2009!!

HI guys,
One question, I was waiting for my IELTS scores and decided to apply to both LSE and UCL the problem.
LSE requires 7.5 overall band with 7.0 in listening and writing.
I have 7.5 but in writing I got only 6.5 while in listening 8.5...
Can I still apply for LLM in LSE? Do you all meet IELTS Criteria here?
as for the UCL is there a mistake on their web-page or they really have so low threshold in IELTS bands? (it is indicated that you should have at least 6.5)
Thanks very much in advance
Tamar

I think you could either apply to british council to re-evaluate ur 6.5 in writing or u could be given an offer conditioned on ur retaking the ielts and getting the right scores..
as for ucl, i think it is an error because there are threads where people have gone along complaining about the fact that ucl requires an overall score of 7.5 in ielts (they think its too high!!!)... so 6.5 is an error.

Thank you very much for response,
Well I think that I will still try LSE.
As for UCL I know they require 7.5 but I was wondering whether the indication that the lowest bands in internal components(writing reading etc) - 6.5 was right.
Thanks and Marry Christmas

The above-said column with regards to scholarship has made a solemn comback albiet with the same message as before, hopefully for an affirmative this time around.
