It depends, if you are a citizen of the European Union - then the most significant difference is the amount that you have to pay for the tuition fees. And even if you are not from the EU - the tuition fees in the UK are usually cheaper than in the US. The quality of teaching should be nearly equal. When it comes to working in these countries as a lawyer - it is very important to determine for yourself which qualifications you already have and which qualifications you actually need to work as a full qualified lawyer in the desired country.
As far as the UK is concerned an LLM is no guarantee for a job - and you need further degrees to work as a lawyer. As I've mentioned in previous threads the market is not very promising for 'LLM - (only) graduates'. good luck

What an interesting site! But people like Flori(s) and his colleagues are trying to prevent potential prospective students from studying in the UK. My simple and honest advice to prospective LLM students is that the UK is the most vibrant and well- resourced nation to study law. The Universities are well-resourced with well-baked lecturers. Ignore this Floris poised with BNP views. Most British I have come accrossed are very friendly, tolerant and supportive. My straightforward question to this evil Floris is when does he think the economy will be favourable for the Non - British to study in the UK? Floris I must tell you that you are a total disgrace to this site. Please keep your BNP views from this site instanteneously and have life!

Floris is just objective.

This is lawyers/prospective lawyers forum and for a reasonable lawyer to calculate Floris' notororious and unfounded comments aim at discouraging foreign nationals to study in the UK as "objective" is quite absurd. Is Floris and his "commrades" telling people to wait until the market and/or the economy starts booming before they start their postgraduates/LLMs?
If the answer is yes, then I will respectfully ask Floris and his fellow BNP activists to persuade the Coalition govt close down all law schools in the UK and re-open them when the economy becomes "promising" as Floris always tries to brainwash others. Time waits for no one as the saying goes and let's measure our words before we publish them!

You haven't answered any of his questions - instead you are continuously insulting me. How very polite. Anyway, this insults will probably not help him with his decision.

I will never pour insults on you but will continue to attack your anti- foreingers attitudes/comments. Now I am asking you and all other contributors/ commentators on this site to follow most of your past threads and make their honest judgments. Please admit that such irritating comments are not helpful to students intending to study in the UK. I hope you will reform one day and find it easy to live in peace with foreigners. I will find time to invite you for a dinner in Brixton and that may mark the begining.

Hi,
I dont know how helpful what I have to say is but here it goes:
As far as I understand to practice as a lawyer in UK for an international law student you must pass the QLTS (Qualified lawyers transfer scheme) formerly known as QLTT. Studying LLM will not help you with becoming a lawyer in UK, as far as I understand it is purely an academic pursuit.
I have stated this on the assumption that you are a non - UK national.

Sorry I haven't been able to give you the required responses. I had been following Floris threads since and felt obliged to put him where he belongs. I pray he changes one day.
Back to your enquiries mate!
Kindly let me know if you had your Law degree from a Commom law jurisdiction and if you were a practising lawyer in that jurisdiction, I should be able to assist you further if these request for further information could be answered satisfactorily .In any event, LLM in the UK will build your links with lectureres, fellow course mates globally and so on. Don't be discouraged! Hope you will be admitted into one of the prestigious law institutions with full-baked lecturers and well resourced libraries/faculties .Best of luck and don't let people like Floris deter you from studying.
