LLM from Irish University

Hi
I have completed my LLB(Hons) this year from University of London. I wish to do my Bar Vocational Course but unfortunately I didn't get a 2(ii) in my honours which is a requirement to qualify for the BVC. Now I have to do a LLM and get 60% marks to get a discretion from the Bar Standards Board. If I do my LLM from an Irish University do you think they will recognise my degree in UK?

I imagine that you'd like to have an authoritative answer before spending a year studying for an LLM. You'll only get that from the Bar Standards Board itself ...

No they don't. Ireland is an independent republic with a written constitution. The UK (including Northern Ireland) is a constitutional monarchy without a written constitution.

When asking whether I could safely transfer from an English LLB to a Scottish LLM I was told that the LLM was an international qualification standard so, presumably, the Bar Council would have no problems with that. Nevertheless, the previous post is right as really only they can confirm yay or nay so its best to check!

thank you for your suggestion. If LLM is an international qualification I would imagine they would accept it. I'm sure they accept LLB of Republic of Ireland. Since I have completed my LLB in English Law in UK University and want to do LLM in an Irish University and later want to do BVC with UK Bar Provider, in this case I believe BSB should not have any problem with my qualification regarding giving the discretion in my favour. Please let me know if you have any further information regarding this.
