It seems that they intend to keep us waiting until January since they go on holiday this Friday. I applied on Oct. 13 and received confirmation that my references were in on Oct. 20, so my 8 weeks would have been up a few days ago. When I went back and looked at the messages from last year, a few people had received offers in mid-December, but it seems that we are not to be so fortunate. :)
My question follows PUCCA's--has anyone actually had contact with LSE at this point? Because of the cost of overseas telephone rates I'm not in a position to call them up to see where the process stands. Someone on here said they were told that no decisions would be made until January, I believe; if so, what did they say and did they give any indication when in January they would start?

Good luck on all your respective applications to the London School of Economics.
The best way to get in touch with the LSE Graduate Admissions Office/Department of Law is through email rather than by phone. They are usually prompt in their response to queries. Since the School is closed for the holidays until the first week of January 2009, all enquiries would probably be answered on or about the 6th or 7th of January.
The admissions process is extremely competitive given the limited number of places in the LLM programme. Realistically speaking, it may take the Graduate Admissions Committee until the latter half of January before any formal offers of admission are made.

hey guys if youre eager keep checking your 'LSE for you' page over the xmas holidays., my admission status was updated a few days ago.
All the best.
All the best.

Could you tell exactly when the page was updated and what was the purport of the change?
I think the company (embark) managing web pages for LSE is in USA and yours could be a case where the decision might have been made by LSE before the holidays had set in and relayed across the seas only to be updated by embark during the holidays.

A conditional offer is usually given to those who have not obtained the final result of their current degree/qualification, or the official documents requested by the School. Was this the case for you, CJH?
Congratulations are in order on your offer of admission. The conditions imposed would merely complete the administrative documentation of your credentials before entering the School. Essentially, you have met their admission standards and will only need to show proof of having completed your prerequisite degree by submitting the relevant certified documents to make your admission unconditional.
Happy New Year to all.

Hi All:
I submitted my application to the LLM program last week (24 April 2009)-- would that be too late? The website says that the program still has "limited availability". When can I expect any communication? Does it really take long? Thanks

It won't take long as very few people would be applying now. But what one needs to check up is whether there's place.

Hi Ruleoflaw,
The website says there is place, but it is limited. This was as of today. I'm constantly checking the LSE website for changes in the accomodation status. Is there any way to expedite the application process?
Thanks.

I am presently studying in the fourth year of NALSAR i.e. an Indian Law School in the five year programme of B.A. LLb Hons. which is an undergradate degree. I am keen on an LLM from UK or USA. I kno its a bit early since I would be applying in 2010 November in my Fifth year.
Although, I am very confused about the requirments to secure a position in the better law schools. I was reading the discussion on this site and thought that some experienced chaps could help me.
I wanted to apply to Oxford, Cambridge, LSE, NYU, Stanford, Harvard. NALSAR the place im studying from is arguably the best law school of the country, due to which it becomes very difficult to mainatain a good rank within the class. With a CGPA of 6.6 / 8 I have managed to be in the top 20% of the class. I have won two All India moot court competitions and worked with professors, judges, lawyers and ngo`s by the end of the third year. I have 1 and half year to go before I apply for my LLM. I have also been to some international conferences and two or three publications.
I am very keen on getting into one of the abovementioned institutions. This year some 4 people got thru oxford and 4 at nyu from nalsar out of a class of 80 which is the batch size.
I wanted to kno, that what should i do in the next one and half yrs to improve my chances of getting through a desired LLM. Considering moving up the rank ladder for grades has become very difficult as the class has the most competitive and intelligent students of the country. Which institutions could be gud for internships. Does conferences help or publications? Does specialisation in one particular area help and should i concentrate my domain of activities only on one path or should the CV be very diverse and involved in multidisciplinary fields.
For refrees, only academic refrees are eligible, and cant i take a recommendation from one of the judges i have interned with? Would the fact that im in the top 20% of the class spoil my chances of getting through? Would the fact that my graduation colege is one of the best in the country help?
Kindly answer to my queries as I am confused on these issues. it could be of great help if someone acquainted in these areas could help.

I finally got an answer from LSE last week. They took 11 weeks to process my application, but if the result is an offer, I figured what the heck!
