Law Firm VS In-house legal

zipiz

Hi guys

I'll join the law sector after the LLM (international commercial) but I'm not a big fun of the lifestyle that usually exists within the law firms (stress and a lot of working hours...). I was just wondering: Is it true that working in-house (legal dept inside a company) may provide you a more easy-going way of life?? I mean: less working hours, less stress and of course less salary.

Don't get me wrong: I'm not lazy, I do love the legal sector but if possible I do not want to work 12 hours per day inside the office....

What do you think???

By the way is there any difference between an LLM in International Business and an LLM in International commercial???? I cannot see it

Thanks a lot!!

I work as an In house counsel and this what i can tell:

It all dependes, not all of the law firms work the same amount of hours and not all the inside counsels work the same amount of hours. Nonetheless, generally speaking, the law firm life requires more working hours than the in house counsel life.

Regarding salary, my point is the same as the one before, some law firms pay more, some in house pay more. For instance, i work as an inhouse counsel and most of my friends work in law firms and i have almost the double of their salary. Depends on the company.
