Very difficult as LLMs in UK and US are very different. In the UK you choose 4 matters that you study, more theoretically, for one year. In the US it's more something like 8-9 matters studied more practically.

Prestige ranking for me:

Georgetown
KCL
UCL

Can't rank BU

you are right i think I'm looking for "prestige" ranking since it's the only way we can compare them....
but you can not rank BU because you do not have enough info..?

Indeed. Moreover, prestige depends on your country.

In my country law firms prefer you go to the US. Therefore Georgetown is ranked higher, as it is very well known and very good.

Belgium, but it'll be the same for the most of Western Europe I think: big law firms prefer you to go the US.

Well I only have knowledge of the top 10-12 law schools so not about Boston.

Certainly best to go for top 10 law school imo.

You may consider the following schools in the order of preference if you are studying in the United States:

1. Georgetown
2. Boston University

If you are studying in the United Kingdom:

1. University College, London
2. King's College, London

Imo you're better at KCL for banking and commercial. That's my subjective idea.

Tuition in the United States is more expensive than the U.K. Living expenses in London are higher than in Washington, D.C. (Boston is also quite expensive). Your decision depends on where you intend to work. If you're planning to work in Europe or the British Commonwealth, your best bet is a British education. If you intend to work in the United States, Asia or Latin America, an American education would be excellent. Among the above choices, the school recognized in most regions of the world is Georgetown Law Center.

Thx a lot! I still have a desicion to make and your help is appreciated. Anyway I hope the difference between KCL/UCL and Georgetown is not huge since I'm leaning towards a more affordable UK education...
Also i see BU is out of the picture in comparaison with those institutions?

Not much difference between these schools. It is essentially what you make of your legal education and how you apply it in your career that count more than what school you attend. Georgetown, UCL and KCL may be good, but that doesn't necessarily put Boston University out of the picture. You may wish to visit the Morin Center for Banking and Financial Law at BU to learn more about their work. They have specialized in this field of law since 1978.

Just to add few comments. There is no doubt that Georgetown is excellent school. The first issue might be price since it is 4 times more expensive than for example UCL (I mean tution fee for EU student). However, that might be no problem in your case. Secondly, if you want to practice banking&finance law within Europe, I personaly find English law more useful. For example, regulation of fin.markets in US would be quite useless for you. On the ohter hand reg. of FM in UK is much more useful, since it is EU (so to certain extant law is harmonised) and what is more, it is common that other countries even EU often copy English system. There is no doubrt that London is still financial centre of the world. Moreover, I, working in this field for 6 years (in civilian jurisdiction), can say that I have to deal with English law quite often compared to NY law that I can deal with exceptionally.

Wow that is indeed a great motivation for going to the UK! If I don't get into a top univ in the USA I'll go into banking and choose that as excuse for not going to the USA :D

Its not excuse. Just one aspect worth taking into account if you are intersted in this field and deciding where to study....
