Hi. Can you elaborate a little more? For instance, what's your background? What jobs are you aiming at? Where?
In general I'd say the situation isn't the best at the moment... so getting a job in Cardiff ain't gonna be easy... but give us a few more details and maybe we can help you out.

Sorry, but in my humble opinion I don't think an LLM will enhance your chances of finding a job in a law firm in the UK...
You might be better off in India at the moment...

I would like to share my story when i was in Cardiff. It is the worst par of my life when accept the Cardiff offer went to UK for LLM with good hope that i will get a job in UK law firm. however, it just was my dream and couldn't get a single lega job over there even i sent my resume like an add everywhere but couldn't get a positive result. if you are planning to do an LLM from Cardiff then i would like to suggest you that do not waste your and your's father hard earned money.
it is impossible to get any kind of job over there, so, it hardly matter that you are an LLM degree holder. because no body interested in you & your degree. i completed my degree and tried a lot to find a job but at last i intended to get any kind of job even unskilled but did not get that as well in Cardiff, then i moved to london and got a job in Mac D.

last reply seems to be realistic - there are too many people on the market looking for work at the moment -
domestic UK graduates, graduates from other EU countries (due to the crisis in southern europe) and also graduates from India, Pakistan, Africa.... so an LL.M. will not improve your chances significantly if you intend to get a job in the UK (but it might improve your chances elsewhere)

Hey Hi
I have completed LLB degree from India and now have applied for LLM in International Business Law for the course commencing from September 2012 at few of the UK Universities . However I have few queries with respect to the LLM course and its acceptability in India as well as in UK.
1) What are the job prospects in UK after completion of the LLM course.
2) How can a foreign lawyer qualify to work in UK after completion of the LLM degree.
3) Does the Uni have a career guidance cell and if yes how good and helpful are they in post study employment support. My main goal is to have a good quality education more imp to have a decent job upon graduation,I do not want to be jobless hunting for one for months after graduation. Do you think Univ provides adequate support in terms of, on campus career fairs, networking events with Alumnis other industry professionals etc.
4) Does the Uni help with searching for a internship in a law firm there during the course. Are there any rules that hinders in getting an internship
5) I also have offers from Anglia Ruskin University, Northumbria University , University of east london, Birmingham City University, University of Hertfordshire . Can you tell me which one would be the better choice considering the above factors. More importantly job prospect wise.
Apologies for bothering you with so many newbie questions but any help is highly appreciated.
Regards
Avanti

Hello Avanti,
Hey Hi
1) What are the job prospects in UK after completion of the LLM course.
Some estimates have already been given in this thread. In the end all of them amount to more or less educated guesses, as it is impossible to give an empirically sound answer to your question, especially if one takes the scarcity of the information provided into account (Where exactly do you want to work? What do you want to do? etc).
2) How can a foreign lawyer qualify to work in UK after completion of the LLM degree.
http://www.law.cf.ac.uk/degreeprogrammes/international/india.html - to cut a long story short, the LLM will not enable you to practice as a lawyer in the UK, but will serve as an entry ticket for programmes which will...
5) I also have offers from Anglia Ruskin University, Northumbria University , University of east london, Birmingham City University, University of Hertfordshire . Can you tell me which one would be the better choice considering the above factors. More importantly job prospect wise.
If you get an offer from Cardiff, forget about the rest...

I intend to work in UK in multinational company or a corporate firm as a lawyer for couple of years and return back to India. Unfortunately I have received a rejection from Cardiff so can you guide as to which one would be better from the above offered received.

Hello Avanti,
5) I also have offers from Anglia Ruskin University, Northumbria University , University of east london, Birmingham City University, University of Hertfordshire . Can you tell me which one would be the better choice considering the above factors. More importantly job prospect wise.
Huh, tough question - as far as the _general prestige_ of the respective universities is concerned, neither of them appears overly attractive to me (to put it nicely).
Have a close look at the relevant modules and the location - where do you want to spend one year of your life?
