J.D. and MSc in Criminology - good decision?

MushyT

Hey all,

I'm a J.D. student from the U.S., and I'm thinking about pursuing a MSc in Criminology/Criminal Justice from a UK University. The thing is, I'm not sure whether it would actually help my career. I'm interested in generally working for the government (U.S. government that is), and although I've thought about working as a prosecutor I'm also very interested in the policy side of criminal law. Basically, I was wondering whether anyone knows anything about how beneficial a foreign masters degree is to American law grads? Will having a MSc in Criminology significantly boost my career prospects?

Thanks!

I guess a graduate degree in criminolgy will help you a lot if you decide to work as a prosecutor or if you are intersted in policy jobs.

Cambridge, Oxford and Edinburgh have very good graduate programmes in Criminology.

Good luck !
