Hi all,
I have recently received offers from the University of Essex (LLM in international human rights law), Cambridge (LLM), and Oxford (Mst. international human rights law). I'm torn between Essex and Cambridge. I'm less keen on Oxford due to the part time nature of the course.
My interests are international law, with a focus on human rights, international criminal law, and international humanitarian law. My goals are to work at one of the international tribunals and / or human rights work in the field. Obviously Cambridge has a strong reputation internationally and I do not know if I can bring myself to turn down that offer, but Essex is very well known in the human rights arena and I'm wondering if a degree from Essex would provide more contacts / possibilites for a job in the NGO and international human rights law world.
I am also interested in perhaps pursuing a PhD in this area, and wonder whether Cambridge would prepare me better for that.
Does anyone have any advice?
Thanks in advance!
