Intellectual Property in London

From what I have read, UCL is the better school when measured against King's or Queen Mary. I looked at the IP program offered at UCL (via the webpage) and saw that even though they offer an LLM in IP, there are only 2 IP courses offered. While I realize that once admitted, I could take those 2 at UCL and the others at one of the other University of London schools, those 2 which I would have to take at UCL are not exactly what I was looking for.

Does anyone know if more courses have been added to their IP program? I emailed the school a while ago, but I never received a response. Since the class offering is meager, I can only assume that UCL is not held in high regard for its IP program. Is this correct? If so, does anyone know which schools in London are?

Hi there,

well, a lot of people say UCL were better than King's. However, I have the impression that outside the UK King's is far better known (OK, in Germany at least...). Besides, what difference does it make if I'm a UCL student and take two courses each at UCL and KCL or if I'm a KCL student doing the same thing?
I reckon KCL has the best (and most) courses in media and intellectual property law within the University of London - that's why I applied there and not at UCL or Queen Mary. At the end of the day, I'm quite sure recruiters won't make a distinction between an applicant with an LLM from UCL or KCL, so in this case, I'd go for programme rather than reputation.

Good luck,
Nicky

Thanks Nicky :)
I have submitted applications to a few schools here in the States in addition to King's, so now I am playing the waiting game. How long did it take for you to get an offer from King's?

Hello!

I applied around mid-February and received the offer about a month later, so they were quite quick. But then maybe it depends on whether you're from the EU or not? I'm not sure. Possibly it's just postage that takes longer to the US or other parts of the world...

Kind regards,
Nicky

Nicky:

Postage is really a problem for the CIS region.
Mail goes here through Zurich, Switzerland (at least that's what the envelope says)... and it took 4 weeks for a freind of mine to receive it. As for me, although I knew the decision I had to wait almost 3 weeks for the offer O_o
