Impact of a judicial clerkship for U.K LLM aspirant

Chinaman

Hey,
I was looking for some advice on the kind of impact a judicial clerkship (law-clerkship) has, on the CV of someone trying to apply for an LLM in the UK. I have heard that the top colleges (Oxford, Cambridge, UCL, and LSE) are extremely particular about a first class degree. Does someone with a higher second class degree and a couple of years experience as a law-clerk stand a chance of getting into any of these colleges, or is the first-class non negotiable in getting through. (Assuming there is no other blemish in the CV).
I would be grateful for any information, or any of your opinions.

Oxford and Cambridge you wouldn't get in with a first; LSE and UCL will take you with a good 2.1. King's definitely would.
