Next to useless. Good luck trying to convince any law firm that QM is a better law school than LSE :P

click on 'average entry tariff' and you'll get the true rankings. Qm is 16th or so..

QM's position seems a contentious point ... it's actually slipped a place from last year's ranking.

Rankings are all crap - including tariff rankings which simply reflect the average UG UCAS score and have nothing to do with the quality of an LLM programme.

Check out RAE results, talk to people who have been on LLM programmes, and look at postgrad data on The Guardian.

you're right, ranking according to average entry tariff seems a lot more realistic. Not that its perfect, but a much better approximation in n my opinion.

Dear All,
On rankings it is important to recognise that the rankings are for LLB courses and not LLM courses.

LLM provision can be quite different from LLB provision and particular institutions often have strong subject specific reputation which is not reflected in any LLB scores. For instance, take Dundee's reputation in the field of energy law at LLM which is generally viewed as world class. I am no way knocking Dundee's excellent LLB provision but the point is that the LLM has a world class reputation and its one of the places for a number of key types of energy law LLMs I would recommend students go to over and above other places that are nominally higher in the so called LLB league tables.

My recommendation is to really check out from academics from your home university; practitioners and from academic journals which institutions have good LLM provision in the subjects you are interested in.

Hope the above is of help
