Entry Requirements UCL/LSE

2605

I graduated from the school of law within the top 15% of my class (with distinction). Is a good ranking for entry to UCL or LSE?.
This ranking is within the classification "first class honors or a good upper second-class honors qualifying law degree"?.

Thanks

Hi 2605!

I think that with a 15% ranking youd fall into an upper second class. A first class would be something between 5% to 10%, but it varies a lot for the universities outside the UK dont adopt this kind of ranking. There are some universities (if I recall correctly KLC and LSE provide on their website the grades equivalent to the first and upper second class for each country).

However, I think the best thing for you would be to get a letter from your university stating what grade a student must achieve to be considered well-above average.

I imagine you'd have a good shot at it with your 15% ranking. I received acceptances at several schools with a 17% ranking, so unless you attended some fly-by-night diploma-mill law school which handed out good grades and law degrees like candy (and it doesn't sound like you did), I'd say your chances of acceptance are pretty good. LSE and Oxbridge might be a bit picky, but then nothing's really new there, is it? ;)

Good luck!
