Hello!
I am starting this thread for the applicants starting at fall 2020. Given that the early action deadline approaches I believe we'd all benefit from this forum.

Hello! Yes, this year there hasn’t been a thread dedicated to Edinburgh. Got an unconditional offer on Wednesday! My first one :) really happy about it.

That's great. Congratulations! Mind telling me how long did it take before they let you know of your result?

Hi there!
I applied on Dec 4th (general LLM in Law). The uni already provides on their website a calendar on which you can see when to expect a decision depending on when you applied, since offers are made on a rolling basis. I should hear back by February 6th! My friend who applied in mid October got rejected in early December.
Congratulations FINARFIN! Which programme did you apply to?

I applied in late October. I got an e-mail saying that they had way too many competitive candidates this round so they would push my application to the next round to make a decision. I really don't know what to make of it, I haven't been able to find any posts regarding an issue such as this. I'll just have to keep crossing my fingers.

Thanks guys. I applied for the LLM by Research, submitted 23 November, offer by 4 December. Really exciting. Funding will be tricky for this one but for now I just feel quite happy about it!

Don't lose faith, at least you didn't get rejected since I know a few people who already did. They might still wait to review more applications before sending out offers, except for outstanding applicants.

Yes, I know that they have a few scholarships for LLM students but they seem really competitive. There's no harm trying though!
Do you have a deadline by which you need to accept the offer?

Sure will! Mine didn’t mention a deadline. However, I do not know whether that may be due to my course being research-based.
Edit: it does come with a deadline for acceptance, I hadn’t checked the applicant hub. They are explicit in remarking, though, that I have the right to withdraw it should I change my mind.

Hello NotAegonTargaryen,
My name is Bethan and I work for the Edinburgh Law School.
Generally speaking, the admissions team will make a small number of offers to the most outstanding candidates on an ongoing basis, but hold the majority of applications until the next published selection deadline when they will offer a proportion of the places available to applicants selected through a competitive process. You will hear back with a decision on your application by the next selection deadline for your LLM programme.
Please feel free to get in touch with us at pg.law.enquiries@ed.ac.uk if you have any further questions.

Has anyone heard back from Edinburgh for the LLM programme in International Economic Law? According to their website, the decisions for this programme were supposed to be released by today.

invarb20,
The decision for the IP LLM was meant for today as well but I have yet to hear anything back.

Did you get an answer from admissions team?I’ve got the mail saying they carry my application forward to the next selection deadline for further consideration. I think this is kinda rejection or candidate:/

I got it yesterday. I’m an international student. So the process or mailing would be slightly different if you are an European citizen

Hi Minett,
If your application has been carried forward to the next selection deadline, this means that your application is still very much active and being considered by the admissions team. This should not be taken as an automatic rejection, but rather a means to consider all applicants given the competitive nature of the LLM programmes.
As your application has been carried forward, you will receive a final decision on your application at the next published places award date.
I hope this is helpful, but if you have any further queries please do not hesitate to get in touch with us at pg.law.enquiries@ed.ac.uk

Hi all !
I applied for LLM in law (general track) on 7 Nov and my application was "New" for a month. On 11 December (a day before closing date of this offering cycle), my application status was changed to "all information received".
Wondering if Edinburgh will only send out the offer on its specific dates (next cycle is February 2020)?
So that I will apply to other schools for backup plans as my firm will open for the application "educational leave" on earliest of January. I need to have unconditional offer in place to apply for such leave (the seats are very limited per year).
Thank you

Hi Bethan,
Just to confirm, so it is possible that the admission team will make an offer before the specific dates (i.e. 6 February 2020 for LLM in law) ?
Thank you

Hi bethebest2020,
While it is possible that an applicant may receive a response before the published date of places awarded (in this case, 6 February 2020), this should not be taken as a guarantee. Entry to this programme is competitive, and the majority of decisions are sent out on the published date.
Please feel free to get in touch with us at pg.law.enquiries@ed.ac.uk if you have any further questions.

I applied for their LLM IP programme on 5th November but am yet to hear from them. Did anyone who applied for this particular programme receive an offer?
