Difference BCL and MJur Oxford

Hello

I have a question regarding the MJur and BCL programmes in oxford: have i understood that correctly that the BCL is aimed at students with a common law background and the MJur at students with a civil law background? and if so is it possible for a student with a civil law background (undergraduate law degree from switzerland) to apply to the BCL? Would that make any sense? Or can you apply for both?

I myself have a undergraduate law degree from switzerland, so which programme would make more sense?

Thanks for your help!

Hi Boso
I know of a Norwegian who took the BCL. So it is possible to take the BCL with a civil law background. However, I do not know if its recommended if you do not have any common law background of substance. Your classmates are british and the level of expectancy is as if you've studied common law for some years. I believe, based on the information provided by the law faculty, that the Mjur provides a good platform for both studying common law and comparing it with your own legal frame of reference.
