conditional offer

AnoosLaw

hi all ... help me with this ..
i didnt take IELTS or TOEFL yet , and if i do take them now then i will need another month to send my papers .
so can i send my papers now without sendding the ielts or toefl reults yet , and send them later ? does this have any effect on giving offers ?

knowing that i will have a conditional offer anyway because i didnt get my degree yet , will get in on june ..
i think it will be abit complicated though , because i dont think i will be able to get the 7.5 in ielts ( university of london colleges ask for that )
so i think i will get one of those offers where i will have to come one month earlier ..

so do you think i should wait another month or just send my papers now , and send the rest ( ielts or toefl) later . when i do the exam and get the results ?

I think by now you should hurry up with your application anyway so I would send it out already, just for their record. But you should personately call the uni in advance (they like that) and tell them or at least give them a note in your application that you will forward your TOEFL or IELTIS score asap. It all depends on the uni, some are very strict, and others are rather cool with that stuff.

It is preferable to book a place in a LLM not too late rather to be out of time with a complete file !

So in my opinion, send it now and explain that you will send your IELTS asap.

I did not have any trouble with that either with KCL or UCL. I sent them in april / may without language tests and it was Ok, so do not worry too much !

you'd better send the application first, then worry about IELTS later.

What make you think you will never get 7.5? I mean...u need 7.5 (with 7.0 in writing) anyway sooner or later, otherwise they'll hardly let u in. For other courses, it's ok. But this is law and the language requirement is necessary.

i have sent them an email explaining my situation to them and they said the same thing you guys said , they asked me to send my papers as soon as possible and sent the IELTS later .
anyway vowpalin its not that easy to get 7.5 if you did the exam before you will know what i mean . my englisn is not that perfect .
But anyway i think they do give conditional offers where you will have to take an english course before the university starts .
but anyway since Ronin sent his application in april , then thats good because i can send my papers now and send the IETLS/TOEFL( think about doing it instead) on april .
anyway Ronin when did you get your offer ?

My score in TOEFL 538. Do I have any chance to be admitted to UCL, LSE etc, with conditional offer?

I got my offer in the very end of June I seem to remember.

To get a conditionnal offer does NOT depend on your TOEFL score. It depends only on your academic file.
So if your file is good, you will indeed get a conditionnal offer.

To say it again : do NOT wait to have the required level of english to send your files. Send them NOW, and you will focus on the TOEFL / IELTS after (see also in this respect possibilities to attend to UCL or KCL pre sessionnal course, very efficient).

Good luck to everyone !

This is taken from Kings College Postgraduate`s Website

LAW:
IELTS: 7.5 (+ 7.0 in written component); TOEFL paper-based: 630 (+ 5 TWE); TOEFL computer-based: 267 (+ 5 in essay writing);
NB The School of Law does not generally accept the Presessional summer course.

Does that mean there is no summer courses for the Law Student who doesnt get minumum of 7.5 in IELTS .. so its either you get the mimum requierd grade(7.5) or you dont get accsepted ?

I sent my application to UCL in early January and by the end of January I got a letter informing on exact date (February 20th) until which I was to hear of an offer/conditional offer or rejection of application. Since I had no letter in my mailbox from UCL even this morning I called them up and after I told the story and spelled my last name to the girl talking to me I was informed that the letter (conditional offer) was mailed to me on February 22nd. You should call them and they should be able to inform you on status of your application. Maybe the letter got lost along the way, you never know.

but don't they also e-mail you if an offer has been made?

if they don't then i might also have to call them to find out about my application status.
