Hello, I just graduated from law school here in Greece and I want to study maritime law in the UK but I found out that there is a maritime law program in Athens from City University London. What do you think about that? Is it a good idea? Will my master's degree be equal to a city university London degree?

Hi Panos
Being Greek myself, i would not do a maritime course in Greece for a number of reasons. You need to study abroad to get the full experience. In Greece, you will not have the chance to improve your English, which will be very important for your career in the future as English is the working language in the shipping sector. Also I am not sure about the block teaching as it is very difficult to absorve all the information in a weekend after having worked all week. In Greece you will not get all the opportunities you will have in the UK, such as additional visiting lectures, visits to p&i and law firms and careers fair. Have you also checked with DOATAP whether such a degree is recognised?
