Hi everyone,
I applied for Cambridge. I have a high 2:1( only 3 As away from first class). I also have 2 years of legal training from a law school.I was also involved in many extra-curricular activities. Does Cambridge accept students with a high 2:1? I also applied for UCL and LSE? any chance I could get in there? Thanks!

Very unlikely on the ground that there will be a lot of first rank holders or students with first applying for the programme.

Unlikely, yes... impossible, no!!! I've said this before on other posts, if you fancy a certain university... apply to it, regardless of holding a first, second or one billionth class. Best of luck with Cambridge... and whlist you were there, why didn't you apply to Oxford? As to LSE, I think it's the same as Cambridge... you might have a much better shot at UCL though... I for one hold a 2:1 and received an offer of a place from UCL. LSE rejected me and I'm still to hear from Oxbridge...

I got recommended for an offer from UCL, still waiting on the formal offer letter though. It may take a while as I'm overseas. Also got accepted to Southampton and KCL. Still waiting on QMUL, LSE and Cambridge but am starting to come to terms with the idea that the last two are longshots! lol! Beicon, what do u intend to specialize in at UCL btw? I applied to do Commercial Law.

Hi All
I wondered if anyone could clarify what exactly Cambridge (or any other UK institution) means by a "First"?
I recently completed a JD in Australia as a mature-age student (2 years, 3 semesters per year, nearly killed me). There were approximately 70 students in my graduating class. At my university, Honours in law (LLB or JD) are awarded as follows: (First = 80%+ avg; 2A = 75-79% avg; 2B = 70-74% avg). Only one student got a First, myself and about four others got a 2A, and about 5 students were awarded a 2B.
How does my 2A (my actual average was 77%) compare to a "First" for Cambridge application purposes?
Cheers

I'm not quite sure about what to specialise in right now... I mean, I've been working as a corporate/banking lawyer for almost 7 years now and I've prepared my application based on that and how it'd be great to study corporate regulation in a country that's developed a much deep legislation in that regard... however, I'm thinking about trying something new and leaving this corporate life behind, once and for all... So I might end up specialising in something rather different that my current corporate/banking background. I'm not sure though...

Hi everynone,
Do you know how many years of professional experience, i.e. working in a law firm etc., is required to get admitted to a LLM program at Cambridge?
Thank you in advance.
