Hey guys, well finally Cambridge have updated my self-service page, which now confirms that I have been set an offer (I was beginning to doubt it as I hadn't heard anything since the email!) The academic condition set is a first class pass in my LLB. Has anyone else received notice of the conditions yet?

They finally updated mine!! My conditions are: IELTS exam (I'm Brazilian) and the financial condition: 17.359 pounds for a non-British student!! Oh my God... that is a huge amount of money! Does anyone know when we will receive any decision on the scholarship application? Thanks a lot!

Hello, I got the same financial condition of 17359 pounds, but thankfully no IELTS (I'm from India). Have people started recieving college status yet?

Hi collegues!
I have got the same magic number 17359 plus TOEFL and completion of Master's study. It is amazing how this admission process works in Cambridge. I sent the documents before December 1, got an e-mail in April, and self0service update only month later. However, after sending TOEFL scores they updated immediatelly. I haven`t got a colledge membership yet and I cannot reach Suzanne (officer responsible for LLM) through e-mail, probably she has no time. Wrote to Cambridge Trusts, they said decision on the scholarships will be somewhere between end of June and September, which is rather funny due to the fact that conditions have to be satisfyied by 31 of July

I'm in the same boat, got an offer mid-April and have yet to receive any written confirmation or witness any change in my self-service page. Does anyone know whether there is a deadline for accepting offers? I'd hate to be struck out by default.

If I'm not mistaken the time stiuplated within which to accept the offer starts running as from the date that the self-service page is updated....

A friend of mine attended Cambridge LLM last year said, in some ways, he got the feeling that Cam viewed the LLM programme as a cash cow (though he did not regret attending!).
I was skeptical, but now I've perhaps seen a bit of what he was talking about with Cambridge's admission process. My top choice was Oxford anyways (i already have the offer and college placement), but I really got a chuckle out of the delays; particular the fact, noted above, that Cambridge Trust decisions are to be made in September, while financial conditions are to be met by July.

Cambridge has by FAR, the SHITTIEST MOST UNBELIEVABLY INCOMPETANT ADMISSIONS DEPARTMENT ON EARTH. I am sooooo F***ing raging right now I can hardly type this. After eight weeks, EIGHT WEEKS, my self service page has finally been updated. Imagine my surprise to find the following conditions set:
Academic: For your Kandidatexamen, you must achieve 120 credits with 60 in your major and 10 in your dissertation, at an average level of väl godkänd (pass with distinction).
My E-Mail to Admissions: I logged onto my self service page and I found that my offer has been set but the conditions are very unusual. My name is etc etc, and my address is in etc etc IRELAND. The reason the conditions are strange is because they seem to be directed to a different student. For one, I am not now, nor have I ever attended a Univeristy in Sweden. I did my undergraduate and postgraduate degress in University College Dublin and Trinity College Dublin. However my academic condition is for the Swedish Undergraduate system. As you can imagine, this would be a rather impossible feat for me to achieve in the timeframe allowed. In fact, I think were I able to achieve this, i would have to be able to defy most of the natural laws that currently govern our reality, like time for instance.
Language Condition: (Can you imagine, my address is listed as IRELAND on the self service page)Missing TOEFL report: In your application you included a copy of your TOEFL score report. Please now arrange for us to receive the Official Score Report for that test directly from ETS.
My E-Mail response: You also ask for a TOEFL report, which again I find very strange because my first language is English. I was born and raised in Ireland and was unaware that as native English speakers we now had to take the TOEFL. Perhaps in the timeframe I might unlearn English, learn Swedish, and then relearn English so that it is my second language. Then I will defy those pescky little thing we licke to call time and space and do the TOEFL while concurrently relocating and completing a Swedish undergraduate law degree in the three weeks allowed.
I have been waiting almost eight weeks for my papers to get from the law faculty to the Board of Graduate studies since I first got the confirmation e-mail of my admission to the LLM program. I had no idea that the distances between the different departments in Cambridge were so insurmountable. Perhaps I should invest in a car or a plane before I arrive?
I am actually just stunned that such a prestigious university could have such incredibly incompetant admissions policies and frankly I am not at all impressed. If you can locate my correct offer conditions and let me know them as soon as possible I would be most grateful.
ARGH, why must this be so STUPID and frustrating. I am seriously reconsidering Columbia. I mean, they didnt have the greatest admissions staff, but at least they were aware I wasnt from Sweden.
By the way, I know I am overreacting to what is probably a clerical error in Admissions ( I have checked with Suzanne Wade twice to make sure I was admitted, and she knows I'm Irish and checked my papers, so no worries about a mix up there) but it is just incredible. I need to go to sleep now before I explode with anger. I havent sent that e-mail yet, cause I know I'm angry at the moment and will probably be more sensible in the morning, but I really wish I had ....

Well at least your page has been updated! I, in fact, refused Columbia and other unis since my first preference has always been Cambridge but not knowing the conditions is making me feel a little uneasy...

That post was epic, Irishguy. Nearly fell of my seat amid the hilarity. Hope it all works out for you anyway whichever law school you choose.
My self-service has finally been updated also and in a similarly unhelpful vein in the conditions section it gives no actual detail of the conditions and simply states 'refer to admissions letter' which i have yet to receive. Sigh...

Irish, though it sucks you have had to go through that, i must say your post was hilarious.
And thanks for educating us about what distinction is in Sweden: väl godkänd
i wonder if there is some etymological explanation for "god" in väl godkänd, as meaning distinction (this is perhaps my anglo-centric understanding of the spelling showing through).
I also wonder if we should start an LLM-Guide thread that compiles the funniest posts on the board.

So, some more updates on the epic saga that has become my admission to Cambridge. Slightly more serious mix up after the Swedish incident. When I found out about my admission I rang the office to find out what the condition for entry was and was told that since I already had a Masters Degree with a 1st all I would have to do was withdraw from my current program or pause my study. Basically, before I came to Cambridge I couldn't be registered with another University. This is repeated on numerous occasions over the two months it took for my papers to travel from Law to BGS. Then we have the Swedish Dilemma.
This was sorted out with minimum fuss actually. I rang the day after I wrote that post and quite calmly said there was something wrong with my Self Service. She looked it up, asked me what was wrong, and I politely pointed out that I was not Swedish, cue polite chuckle, and assurance it would be fixed immediately.
ONE WEEK LATER: Still waiting for error to be fixed so I ring BGS. They say they have finally got the condition, which was that I complete an M.Litt by July and have it graded at a First Class Honours. I think I had a minor heart attack. Rang law faculty, who assured me it was a mistake, cause they had been telling me something completely different for the last two months. Heart attack averted for a short period.
TWO DAYS LATER: E-mail from law faculty: Erm, actually that condition is correct, thanks for the call and good luck. Cue failure of most of my organs simultaneously, panic attack followed by bouts of depression and WHY IS MY LIFE FULL OF SO MUCH GOD DAMNED DRAMA??? Anyway, once I had regained some sort of composure, I wrote a letter peppered with lots of phrases like: assurances, reliance, detriment, serious consequences for my future, etc etc. Also pointing out the ridiculousness of requiring me to have two masters degrees to do a third and fact that a week ago all I had to do was get a 2:1 and prove I could speak English. Sent this to every Dean I could find on the website.
DAY AND A HALF LATER: All is well with the world once more. Condition is now what I had been told it was all along. Withdraw from current course before coming to Cambridge. Everything has gone surprisingly smoothly since. Been assigned to Magdalene and just accepted the correct offer today.
Do I dare say that my tales of woe might finally be coming to an end!! Could this be the final chapter in The Cambridge Admissions Process or as I like the call it "The C.A.P. Chronicles." Only time will tell. I'll tell you what though, its a welcome distraction to my love life, which, can you guess, is also peppered with disasters and drama. I have lots of very interesting stories though, so at least I'm an entertaining mess.
