Thank you everyone, especially entangledmusing, vari57, idn4ihl, for the kind words. Thank you for being supportive and sharing my concerns throughout the process.
At such moments, I remind myself that everything, even failure happens for some reason, and that I will be able to "connect the dots by looking backwards" (the expression is by Steve Jobs in his Stanford Commencement speech (of course not meaning that I expect to become anyone like him;) ).
So the best of luck to everyone :)

To the #foreverDC members- Sending you all my heartfelt best wishes for your applications.
And to divert your attention from this terrible waiting hell- Seeing that I am late for other Universities this year will reapplying next year at Cambridge brings any different result? Know any positive story along this line? or once rejected you are forever doomed is the case?

I would see no reason why you couldn't reapply with a fresh application next year.
I would suggest that you do something in that time that would look good on your CV so as to improve your chances.

Can we now assume that everyone left in UCDC will be unsuccessful?
Posted Mar 13, 2017 14:51
has anyone moved from UCDC to BOGS today at all?
Posted Mar 13, 2017 14:53
I feel like they should really tell unsuccessful applicants first :(
Posted Mar 13, 2017 14:55
Nope. I don't think so. In the last few years, lots of applications were sucessful on the 15th or even later. So, relax.
Posted Mar 13, 2017 14:58
still #UCDC. I hope this ends on a positive note. I am sorry to hear about the rejections.

I don't know but I haven't seen one BoGS for a long time. Everyone who has heard back since Thursday has been rejected....doesn't seem to bode well.

Has anyone applied to any back-up LLM programmes? And if so, where? :)
Posted Mar 13, 2017 15:07
@Anon-acondadont Yes Warwick. I know its not the same standard as Cambridge or even close but I have read really good reviews about their LLM. Still need scholarship though.

I've applied to Oxford, UCL, KCL, QMUL, Edinburgh, Bristol, Warwick, Durham and Manchester. Only sent out my applications (save for Oxford's) last Wednesday and so far QMUL has given me an unconditional offer. Waiting to hear from the others :)

Wow that's an extensive list. I've applied to Oxbridge and UCL. I received an offer from UCL last week, so that's something. But like Ashter92, I am concerned about funding.

Yeah, for me I'd really like to know where I will be in less than six months time, so that I can start planning accordingly. This wait is killing me. Funding is an issue as well.

Yeah. I have offers from QMUL, KCL and Oxford (for MLF). Have also applied to Harvard. Funding is also an issue with me. :)

Hi guys.
I'm so sorry for everyone that got rejected today. Many of you have been in this thread for a long time, and it's really sad to see these results.
But I hope you'll succeed in whatever paths you choose now and don't let Cambridge's rejection get on your way.
I'm still in DC's limbo and I'm getting really annoyed by it. Idk why is taking them so long to send notifications and Idk why no one's been BOGSd in the last few days. But I don't feel we should automatically read that everyone in DCLand will be rejected.
Cam's website says: "If your application is unsuccessful, you may receive notification of the outcome earlier. This is not because your application was not fully considered; this is because the process for establishing all the components of an offer is time consuming."
(http://www.graduate.study.cam.ac.uk/after-applying/timescales)... So yes, maybe there's still hope for us.

Oh congrats! :D Yeah I decided to spread out my options as much as possible. Hopefully UCL and KCL give me some positive news! I'm still keeping my fingers crossed for Oxford but the odds aren't in my favour.
As for funding, perhaps you could see if UCL still has any funding opportunities available?

Still #ForeverDC, doesn't look like it will change now.

I've tried a number of times over the last few days to call Miss Wade (LLM Administrator) but it always goes to voicemail. I've emailed her, but not holding my breath for a prompt response.
They must be really busy. I'll let you guys know if she says anything of general relevance.

FYI: It seems that Gate's decisions are coming out. I've just received an e-mail from them and, of course, I was not selected. Good luck everyone!
