Congrats Hede for the offer and bethHH for BGOS'ed! And everyone else that is in the same situation!

I have been following this forum for a while, and I noticed today at around 4 pm, that my status has also changed to "Awaiting decision by the Board of Graduate Studies"

If anyone is curious, I'm from Portugal.

Hope that it holds true and this leads to an offer. Good luck to everyone! =)

Hi Guys,

Massive congrats on all your offers rolling in over the last few days. To any British people, who's applications are now returning, would anyone be comfortable sharing some skeletal academic achievements?

I just want to try and gauge by odds (I'm looking to apply next year), so I would like a dose of realism where possible. If you'd rather do this privately, could you pm me please?

Many thanks in advance,

James

Has anyone got an 'Awaiting approval by BGS'? My status changed from the usual 'Awaiting decision of the BoGS ' to this. I am so worried because the only people who have been rejected ar after BoGS are those who got this 'approval' message. :(

can we assume that if we are 'still under consideration by degree committee' that we're fucked? lol

I am from Hong Kong, and mine is still 'under consideration'. I read it as my application is not so brilliant that the degree committee can give me an early offer; but also not so bad that they want to outright reject me... So they will let the top people fill the places first, and if they decide that list after list of outstanding candidates, they still have some places left, they will look at my application again... So I expect a long and painful wait, but in a hopeful manner:) good luck to self and everyone who is on the same boat as me!^_^

I think it would be very pessimistic to think everyone who hasn't had a status change yet will be rejected. Last year, plenty of people had to wait until March. For all we know, they're working their way through the alphabet or something...

Cambridge make over 300 offers. Here are the stats:

I doubt even half of the offers have been made yet.

Hi! I'm a UK applicant too and my status changed to 'under consideration by the degree committee' months ago but has remained the same. I am starting to doubt it'll be successful but being at the degree committee stage means its passed stage 1 (the department).. Right? Do we know if there is applications which are still at the 1st stage or even already stating to be unsuccessful? Or does everyone get progressed to the degree committee? Reading their admissions procedure on their website had my hopes up about the degree committee stage being an indication of potentially good news :(

amynoemie please do not lose hope - they have a long way to go yet, I'm sure. I'm a UK applicant and my status is also still at 'Under consideration by the degree committee' (has been since December). I also got the same impression as you did from the Cambridge admissions website, about applications going first to the department and then to the degree committee, with successful applications then going to the BoGS as the final stage of the application. I haven't heard of anyone on this thread yet receiving an 'Application unsuccessful' and really, very few so far seem to have progressed to BoGS which I take as meaning that they are working on getting through what must be a rather long list. Hopefully they'll get to us soon! :)

Thank you for giving me back some hope, I really hope that it might be good news soon, or later, as long as it's good news! Fingers crossed for your application too :) If my status changes I will let you know straight away! My last name starts with an S so I am hoping I am just at the end of the list :D

My status has also been stuck to "under consideration by degree committee" since mid'December. I have just checked the posts from last year. By March 13th there were still people waiting for this status to change. So let's be positive and prepare to wait some more.

I think this post written by Optimisticgirl last year will help you keep your hopes up and relax, it sure did for me!

"Everyone seems to be freaking out.
But to help just a bit, statuses do change at different intervals. Infact some statuses change way past the deadline. One of my friends in the current LLM who also happens to be a Commonwealth scholar had their status change sometime at the end of March even after Cambridge stating that all decisions are made by 15th March.
Rejections come in at the same time as acceptances and there is no rule that if your status has not changed, then you are rejected.
If you read this thread www.llm-guide.com/board/108293/39 you will note that although in 2012, offers went out in late Feb and March, people were still getting offers in May. What i am trying to say is that sit back, relax and wait for your offer. I know it is hard but do hang in there. Good luck to everyone."

Hang in there guys and girls!

lilyalex, I wouldn't worry too much about the approval message, judging from last year's posts, several candidates got the approval message and got an offer. E.g.: See AuraLawyer's post at http://www.llm-guide.com/board/139100/30

Of course I can't state this with certainty, but It probably depends on their workload whether they'll be able to make an offer straight away or not. It is still too early in the application process to make any assumptions.

I got the impression (although I could be wrong) that the only reason you would be rejected after this stage would be procedural- something to do with visas or something being incorrect on your application.

I hope I'm right!
