Hi,

I just received an email stating that I have not been selected for the Gates Scholarship. My camsis still shows "awaiting consideration by the department". Is it normal for Cambridge to inform all applicants, who has applied for Gates scholarship, about the status of the application; and such email is independent of the admission decision.

My status just changed to 'conditonal offer'. I am not sure when I was BoGSed, it must have been over a week ago.

While this may be disappointing, you should know that your application was carefully considered within a large and highly competitive pool of applicants and Gates Cambridge was only able to shortlist a relatively small number for interview. Please also note that due to the large number of applications received, Gates Cambridge is not able to provide individual feedback to applicants.

This decision applies only to your application for a Gates Cambridge Scholarship. If you have applied for awards offered by the Cambridge Trust (see www.cambridgetrust.org) or any other funding bodies at Cambridge - you will be contacted separately about the outcome of those applications.

P.S I applied for Gates as a by the way and i was so sure, beyond any reasonable doubt, that i would not get it. LOL! Gates Cambridge scholars are usually people with MPhil and people with ideas that are out of this world. Infact i contemplated not filling in the form but i was on a roll of filling in every available funding. Not sad at all.

The Gates Cambridge is administered differently from the Admissions.

Just trying to see if there's any alphabetical logic or if I can just give up hope. If it lasts any longer I will have a heart attack haha.

Did not get the Gates scholarship either, I´m actually wondering whether they award it to LLM applicants at all or is it reserved to MPhil and PhD students. I applied just in case but to be honest was not expecting to get it. Having said that, however, the rejection still stings like hell :D

Still no change in status guys... does this mean it is a rejection :(?
