Thanks yaiza! I have a feeling this might be the document that Camsis was trying to direct me to when it directed me to the admissions page. I only have financial + college conditions so now waiting on a college... and trying to find some money!

Any news from anyone yet, I still haven't had my academic conditions...?

Hi. I haven't seen anything yet either.
Could people let us know when they actually receive the physical letter in the mail? I want the hard copy information before I go about fulfilling the criteria etc and it says you only have 6 weeks to accept from the date of the offer so I'd like to get on top of it asap.
Do you think we will hear from colleges soon?

I haven't received the letter so far. Nonetheless, I have accepted the offer via Camsis and my status has changed to something like: applicant accepted offer. You may do that!
Sidneycat, I didn't know that we had 6 weeks to accept it... but 6 weeks from when?
As for the college: I chose open application and, a couple of days ago Hughes hall contacted me to inform me that they were considering my application for their college...
BTW, is it difficult to find rooms for rent/appartments there?
Thanks!

Hi, I've just received my formal letter, but am quite upset because they require that I finish in the top 5% of my graduating class. I don't know about rankings, but I doubt that I will be in the top 5%, maybe the top 10% - but I have never heard of my uni even releasing rankings.
I feel like I've been teased with the 'conditional offer'. I was confident because my final marks (ie. those released after sending my application to Cambridge) have been the highest achievable - but too little too late it seems...

Those rankings are common in the US and UK, but -I think- they aren't in the rest of the world! If I asked for them in my University they would probably laugh at me!
Weren't they requiring you a minimum GPA (grade point average) in lieu of the ranking?
One last question, was that condition called something like non-standard?
Thanks

Yes - they were called 'non-standard conditions'. It would seem reasonable to substitute a grade average for the ranking system - given that I don't even know if my University will tell me where I am ranked. Also - If a grade average could be substituted, then I would be able to show that from the time of offer, to the present, I could not have done any more to increase my grades (as i was in the top 3 of all of my subjects).

Doth, I sent you a personal message.
Posted Apr 23, 2008 15:10
DOTH-- My situation was similar (I was given conditions which were impossible to meet) and I emailed Ms. Wade a letter addressed to the Admissions Committee explaining the situation. They replied within a week with revised conditions that, while they will be hard to meet, are achievable.

Ah right, that gives me some hope. Did you have a ranking condition as well or a grade one? hope I can get some relaxing of the conditions also - its not my current grades, its the ones I got 5 years ago that still hang around and haunt me... to reach the top 5% is pretty rough when your fighting uphill.
Hope you go well with your new conditions anyways, all the best mate!

I just had a grade condition. Thanks, and good luck to you as well!

Hi. I was reading the "Explanation of your offer" booklet yaiza and it said you had six weeks to accept the offer from the date of the letter (which I am yet to receive in the post) and then it also had a date for conditions to be satisfied (ie financial etc) - 31 July 2008.

Thanks Sydneycat! I'm more relaxed now. Mine hasn't arrived yet either...
what's your college?

Wow! my letter arrived about a month ago but I'm getting more and more concerned as the days pass by. To sum up, they've required me to graduate with a certain average this next june.
Nowadays, I would meet that condition but... I still have 3 exams left which means that I MUST score and A in all of them to maintain it!
I wrote a letter/email to the committee but they haven't replied yet... how long did it take for those who did the same?
Thanks!

For me, it took about a week for the committee to reply. Good luck!

Surely if they set you conditions, its up to you to meet them. Fair enough if they're impossible, but if you have to maintain what you're on at the moment, how can you expect them to lower it?! The conditions are supposed to be hard, they don't hand out places for nothing do they???
Posted May 22, 2008 15:33
I know my conditions certainly were not easy by any standard. There's a difference between difficult and impossible, and I don't think there is anything wrong w/ them setting difficult conditions. Unless they're impossible, I would hold off on contacting them, see if you meet them, and if you don't meet them but are close, then take it from there... Just my suggestion.

I'm still awaiting a decision from the board... Can I ask
how did they let you know? did they send you an email or a normal letter? did they reply directly or was Mrs.Wade the one who told you the result? .....I'm panicking!

I still haven't received my formal offer letter... All of my communications have been through Ms. Wade directly. I would call tomorrow if I were you... Good luck!
