it's already the end of March. I still haven't received any news from Cam. I guess it is not a good sign....

Well, you can look at it in two ways - either they haven't accepted you so your chances of getting in are decreasing or they haven't rejected you so your chances of getting told to clear off are decreasing. I'm in the same position although i tend to agree with you. Anyone else heard anything?

Do not worry. Your assumptions are wrong. I called to the LLM admission office a week ago and they told me that both offers and rejections are sent at the same time. My friend from Asia received "the email" with offer on monday.

Take it easy, your chances neither decrease nor increase. They just did not see your application. I know what I am talking about...

I am quite surprised (to say the least) to read that people have applied to Cam and are not in the top 10% of their class. Although I understand tutors may take a holistic approach to viewing applicants I cannot believe that with the large number of applicants any body in 15% or below bracket would be within consideration for a very long time.
Please correct me if I am wrong as I am only in my 1st year of an LLB programme but seeing Cambridge is viewed as an elite University, why would they allow anyone who is seemingly not "elite".
No offence meant to anyone in particular and as I say I may have a very tainted view as I am not currently going through the process but in some respects it could be comparable to applying to Oxbridge when you are achieving ABB at or BBB or A level.
Good luck to all currently waiting for a response..

I am sorry S_Dimekiw, I am afraid that you are wrong. I know ppl who get attmitted with 2:1 only. I guess the reputation of your undregraduate institution does make a difference.

"elite" has no confined definition as such.

so kate, don't lose your hope. Competition is keen but you still have a chance.

Invariably, someone with a high 2:1 can be admitted to Cambridge. But this will have to be offset by some other qualifications, such as an impressive string of publications or great references.

Admission is certainly holistic, but yes, 2:1 is more the exception than the rule.

hi all. I just get a 2:1. I did not do too well in my 1st year but I did really well in the final year, indeed I was the class topper that year. My school gives equal weight to each year when considering the honours, that is why i only get 2:1. I would like to know about the chance of being admitted to Cambridge.

Hi guys!
Tell you all a sad story about myself with Cam.
On March7 I got the letter from Cam
Telling me that I was rejectedwithout reviewing any of my material
Because my application packet arrived beyond deadline

Fortunately on March 15 I got the admission latter from NYU

Best of luck for you guys to get into Cam!

Contrary to a lot of assumptions in this board it is obvious that students who have not received an offer from cam so far, only have a chance, if the early receivers defer. The deadline to accept the offer expires in one week

Thanks Jimmy for your information.

But i would like to know the grounds of your comment. why is it so "obvious"? I called the Admission stuff yesterday and one of them told me that many offers were made currently.

I strongly doubt that people who have not received an offer yet will only stand a chance if others reject or defer. I think perhaps it is true that they are waiting for responses before giving out letters, but i am sure there will be a core number of students who have been given a firm offer but will only be notified along with everyone else.
The only thing that's "obvious" is that the long wait is becoming unbearable!

Good luck to all waiting!

perhaps... but the admission office and other posters contradict that assumption. Last year the majority of Cambridge offers went out at the end of the first week of April. This timing makes sense, given Oxford's offers went out last week.

jw,

I apologise for not being clearer - I was disagreeing with the poster who said that people who don't have offers yet will only have offers depending on the responses given by those who have already been offered a place. I suppose I'm not being very clear here either(!) - but essentially I agree with you that the timing makes sense as I know most applicants haven't heard anything yet.

I am really fed up with all these assumptions...People, believe me, I know few people from BOGS and Law Faculty personally and I have recently asked them about this matter. They would not lie me! Many decisions (both offers and rejections) will be made this or next week. My opinion is not official but it is according to the most reliable sources. Howgh!

There was an faculty admissions board meeting about 2 weeks ago. I would imagine from what I have heard alot of the decisions were made then. Decisions to admit to the LLM in Cambridge are not made very day. It is simply not feasible for that to happen.

I've been completely unimpressed by Cambridge's admissions procedure. Friends of mine received offers in mid-Jan and I still haven't heard word, one way or another. I think Oxford's system - of sending them all out at the same time - makes much more sense. Oxford had a later admissions deadline, more information to read, and yet got back to us long ago. I was made a offers at the colleges at UoL to which I applied, including one offer with a significant merit scholarship. I was also made an offer at Oxford for the BCL. Regardless of the outcome of my Cambridge application, I've decided not to go there and to accept one of my other offers instead. In my opinion, Cambridge's conduct with respect to LLM applications just confirms its reputation as not really caring about its LLM students and regarding the LLM solely as a cash cow.

I agree - Cam system really sucks.
I would accept everyting but knowing that some people were admitted yet in January is just killing - where is the logics?
I can imagine when their scholarship decisions will arrive - end of September, just two days before the term, when the money is already paid to them:((

Dear Everyone,

I have just spoken to someone at the Law Faculty, whose words I highly value, and she told me that the reason for them deliberating so long on applications, is that they only have time to do so during holidays. They did half the job in the winter break, and now they are finnishing the rest.

Taking into consideration that they have really limited sources for a relatively large number of applications it is understandable.

In my views we all knew we are applying to a place that highly regards tradition and is very conservative.

Cheers
