Cambridge applicants

Hello guys
This a thread for all those cambridge applicants, who are eagerly waiting for the response, like me.
Anybody who gets the offer plz send post in this thread informing all of us about it.
meanwhile I have certain queries relating cambridge application process.
1. As I have heard that getting into cam is more of luck becuase of the large number of applications they recieve. can anybody plz clarify me on their application process. As how they chose from the large number of students gernerally eachone fullfilling the entry requirment.
2. secondly, on number of llm students who recieved cam trust schoalrship last year and its certeria.
3. anyother source of funding apart from this scholarship for studies in cam.

Thanks in advance
cheers!

I received an email towards the beginning of January from the LLM Faculty but I'm still awaiting all of the paperwork from the Graduate board. I have no idea what they look for in the selection process. I suspect I was admitted because I am interested in (and have studied) international private law.

Funds for US applicants are quite a bit different and so I can't really help you in that regard.

Best of luck.

I emailed Cambridge and they indicated that they were hoping to have all decisions made by March.

Still some waiting to go!

Rah,

Did they mean "by March" or "in March"?
If former, then they should have already notified a lot of people, or?

Cambridge have already started to notify. Last year the bulk of their notification was in April. This year they pushed the application date back a month so logically they'll do most of their notification in March. However I wouldn't neccessarily call Cambridge logical..........

Yellow,

I do have the same thoughts with regard to trasfer of deadline from January to December.
However, when you say they have started notifying, do u mean the main bulk - I am asking since a few people were notified yet in January, and it seemed to be an exception from the main rule.
On the whole, how many people u are aware of have been notfified?

Nabucco,

I had the same question as you when they emailed saying they would be notifying us "by March". Although given that it is now March 2, I suppose they really meant "by the end of March".

I have to let a bunch of schools know my response by the end of March so I don't know how much longer I can wait!

From my understanding they still had a majority of the applications to look at....so the waiting game continues....

i don't think that Cambridge has made the bulk of its decisions....yet...

Not many people on this board seemed to have heard from them.

Cambridge do seem to have some system. They certainly admit - or at least have admitted in the past - mainly by country. I have however heard that they admit their first choices - of which there may only be a few - first. However this is widely disputed. I can only say that that is what I was told by someone in the law faculty last year. Other people have heard different things.

Anyone has idea what happens if IELTS total score is above the required minimum in Cambridge (7.5), however one of the components is below (wrtiting only 6.0)?
Cam web-site seems to be very strict saying that one must fulfill all requirements, however I am still wondering whether it is obligatory to pass the test again?

I was just wondering if anyone who has received an email acceptance from Cambridge has heard further, either from the Board of Graduate studies or from their college?

I am a German law student who received an email offer last month. I haven't heard nothing more from the Board of Graduate Studies so far as well....

Hi JGMS,

I'm from UCC & i'm still waiting to hear back from cam. Do you mind me asking what reasons they gave, if any, for your refusal & your friend's acceptance? Also, did you apply early?

Just a general question to everyone else, what sort of grades are expected of students doing finals (from their first couple of years) to be considered?

Thanks

I'm an Irish student currently doing an LLM in Cambridge. I haven't heard of any Irish student getting an offer on less than 67% in their most recent year results. I also know people who have not been offered a place on considerably more.

Thanks yellow, that's very helpful. I was around that mark last year which will make it very tight. Fingers crossed though...
