Applaying for more programms in one university

Does anybody know how it is if you applay for 3 llm programms in one university? Just for example european law, international commercial law and a genreal llm in one university? Could it be a dissadvantage? (because the feel that you dont know what you want?) Any opinions?

I'd advise you not to do that... and the reason I think you've figured out already... how are you going to support your application if you don't even know what it is that you want to study? You had better apply for one programme at a time only...

I think you are rigth. The only reason why I thougt about applaying for more programms is, that Im from Austria and the big law firms told me that it isnt improtant which programme I will take. The only reason for doing a llm is to speak legal English fluently and the foreign experience. It is just somehow the entry ticket for a big law firm. So I thought my chances are higher to get in a well known university such as Nottingham, Glasgow,Aberdeen etc, if I applay for more programmes. Maybe wrong idea.

Thanks for your opinion!

Though I agree with you, I think that in some special cases it can be considered.

Let's use Leiden Uni for an example: they offer a regular LLM in PIL and an advanced one, with two specialisations. I don't think that applying to both the regular PIL LLM and the advanced PIL one would harm any of your chances, do you agree?

The same goes for some other universities that offer similar or regular and specialised courses.

When I applied for Leiden, I even applied for 3 programs, even though I know I would only accept the Advanced PIL (the other two was the International Relations masters and the regular PIL program).

I didn't know what I was really thinking, only that Leiden allowed a maximum of 3 programs to apply to. Maybe I just figured it'd be a waste of 100EUR to only apply to one program (which I wasn't sure I'd get into at that point of time).

I would probably not advise you to do what I did, unless there is legitimate reasons (such as debating whether to enter the regular PIL or the advanced PIL).
