Hello everyone,
I want to apply in NYU but my score on TOEFL is 99. I sent an e-mail to the NYU asking whether my application would be reviewed (NYU requires a 100 score). The answer was that the minimum score is 100 iBT and that NYU does not have conditional admission.
Nevertheless, I have graduated with honours, I have really good recommendations and experience in the field which I plan to study. Therefore, I wandered if I should still apply? ....
NYU; 99 iBT?

The answer from NYU is very clear. If there is still time, I suggest you should retake the toefl. If not, and you have all documents ready, you can give it a try but It is reasonable to expect that they will reject you.

I beg to differ.... Don't worry about it. Just send your application. If you are qualified they will not care about 1 point...

...and you speak by your experience (someone else experience) or in general?...

Here are the facts:
One of my friends just graduated from Harvard LL.M program with 105 Toefl score. They require you to have 25 on each section. His speaking was 18, which is way below the requirement.
Another friend from CLS has - just like you- had 99 from Toefl...
If I were you I would just send my score first and retake the Toefl after, if you feel that your application is not strong enough to cover such glitch. But if you don't get the "100" this time, I would'nt worry much about it.
It is just one point. If you had got 95 or 90 something. I would say definetly retake the toefl

I find myself at exactly the same dilemma. I have 99 on the TOEFL test although I consider that my application is rather a strong one. I received the same response with you when i adressed the NYU Graduate Office via e-mail. However, I 've been told by other students who are studying currently in the United States that this does not constitute a serious reason for not being admitted. This is why i finally decided to send my application materials and rearrange a TOEFL test.if i receive a better grade, i will have it sent to them, otherwise i will keep the score of 99 and expect that i will not be rejected!

I also got 98 on the TOEFL. I am worried that the NYU admission committee might skip our application directly, so we may not be evaluated at all.

not from personal or vicarious experience, but 'worldly wisdom' - never lose the opportunity. apply now and if need be you can demonstrate credentials or even take the test later.
best of luck~
best of luck~
