Hello Everyone , I was on the board since sometime and i finally decided to register so as you see this is my first post in here , i have a question .. am applying for my LLM next year ( 2006/2007) so i think this is the right time for me to do Either Ielts Or toefl , so my question is shall i take ielts or toefl , which is easier/better/more accseptable ?
i will probably do my LLM in UK , Still there is a small chance to do it in US ...

i think tofel is easier than ielts , i would advise you to take tofel , actually most of universities in the usa still not accepting ielts even though that exam is more difficult than tofel.

hi , thanks for your respond and you just made me more confused :) because i was actully going to do ielts so by saying toefl is easier am back to my confusion ...
so i guess you mean its easier to get 250 in toefl than getting 7 in ielts because thats my aim ..

and Am from Jordan ....


anyway anyone else ? i would approciate any help , i know most of you guys did one of those exams if not both , so you can give alittle help in here :-D

i did both of the exams ielts and tofel , i did ielts in the uk actually it was not that difficult exam but you have to know the strategy particularly for the reading , you do not have sufficient time to read every details of the article, i reckon that you have the the whole idea about ielts have not you?

when i told you about tofel i meant the paper based test , that one i did it in syria but i did not get the 600 score which the requirement for the most universities in the usa.
nowdays i am preparing to retake the exam.
actually i do not have an idea about the tofel computer based .

Toefl and IELTS are accepted in the UK, but I think that IELTS is seen more frequently by those who are making decisions regarding your application.

And if you are applying this year, make sure you sit your test early, if your English skills are already up to scratch. If you don't get the score you want, it's some time before you can take your IELTS again, so then you could choose to do the the Toefl test.
