And TOEFL again...

Zei

Another TOEFL related question. Eight years ago I scored 280/300 on the computer based test which is equivalent to roughly 114/120 on the internet based one.

Recently, I scored 105/120 (21 on reading and 3 x 28) on the internet based test. I completely messed up the first section (that is reading) as I underestimated the timing and I believe I could easily score 110+ if I try once more. What do you think? Should I spend my money for a second try or is 105 enough to get into CLS, Stanford, UPenn, UChicago and the like...?

Hi Zei,

I think you should repeat it. Even though your overall result is good, those universities demand a minimum result in all sections (25 and in some cases 26).

you should definetly repeat. NYU for example wants 26 in listening and reading and as far as I know most good schools want at least 25 in that section. It appears to me that that section is quite important for law schools. Get Barrons Toefl IBT or such and make 5-6 of the reading test, then you will get easily 28-30 on the reading part.
