This is announcement for those interested in undertaking an LLM from January 2012. We offered Tuition Fee Scholarships for this September entrants and these have now been awarded. We realised it was only fair we make the same offer to our January entrants. As a consequence we now offer two Tuition Fee Scholarships each worth £12500. The deadline for applications is Monday 3rd October. Given the visa issues we will turn these applications round very fast and make a decision by the following week. Full details are available below

LLM Scholarships for January Entry 2012

Two scholarships worth £12,000 are available to students undertaking either the LLM in EU Commercial Law, LLM in International Banking and Finance, LLM / M.Jur in International Commercial Law, LLM in International Competition Law, LLM in International Energy Litigation, or LLM in Maritime Law (UK).

To be eligible for these scholarships you must:

Submit a full application for one of the LLMs listed above along with a covering letter indicating that you would like to apply for the scholarship.
Have obtained a first class honours degree or a high 2:1 or equivalent
Have an IETLS score of not less than 7.0.
Submit a 2000 word essay in English entitled: How will the economic crisis impact market regulation?.'
Deadline

Your applications and essay must be received by 3rd October.

Each scholarship application is assessed by the quality of the application and the essay. A final decision will be made by 10th October.

Only successful applicants will be notified.

With reference to Britain's current position on Eurozone crisis - would the British LLM's in the Bruxelles legal market would be of any value? - given the highly competitive and recession induced & reduced legal hiring!

Scholarships are given every year to attract students outside the UK although the essay competition is open to everyone. The essays - who and how they are assessed - and who gets the scholarship is entirely another story and a topic for discussion.
