Im a foreign lawyer who graduated from the UCLA LL.M. class of 2008 and am planning on doing a JD. I am taking the LSAT in October this year. I encourage any foreign lawyers who have done, are currently pursuing, or plan to do a JD from any American University to please step forward and share your experiences and offer guidance if you may please.

Hi
I am a lawyer from India having two years of standing in High Court. I have decided to give the CA Bar Exam in Feb as i am eligible for it and have already registered with the State Bar as an Attorney Applicant. I took advice from many lawyers and students who are pursuing LLM over here, everbody advised me to give the Bar Exam instead of taking any higher studies because ultimately your sole purpose would be to clear the Bar Exam. Instead of doing JD for four years, you can avail this time for your Bar Exam preparations since you would be eligible to give the Bar exam if you are a registered attorney from your country. This is what i have been advised by others.

Hi,
I'm an Indian attorney as well, also planning to give the California Bar exam, could you advise on the following issues:
Firstly, which all documents are necessary to submit to the California Bar Office? Do I need to give an original copy of my Licence to Practice or will an attested copy be sufficient ?
Secondly, when is the MPRE to be given?
Thirdly, how have you planned your Bar Studies? Have you enrolled for BarBri? Does BarBri have any lectures conducted?
Would appreciate your advise/ suggestions on these issues.
Best Regards,

@LLM83,
Hi, I'm planning to do an L.L.M. course as well, but people are advising me against it and telling me that a J.D. course would be beneficial. Could you share your reasons for first pursuing the L.L.M. and then pursuing the J.D.? Is the market for L.L.M. graduates very bad?
I'm also planning to give LSAT, could you suggest any good coaching for the LSAT exam?
Thanks and Best Regards,

1) JD is 3 year
2) if you gonna live here for the rest of your life with LLM+Bar = you are foreign lawyer. If you wanna opportunities as US lawyers (big law +promotions+ of good LS then good payment, if shitty LS - then 30k-50k) - if you wanna good and wide options - then only JD

That is a bit costly to do LLM (40k)+ to do JD (160K if TT)
btw could not help to notice with all Indians & test/exams
Just for the references
The professor makes and GIVES the exam.
The student takes/does the exam / sit for exam.
