Does anyone know if an LLM would satisfy the requirement to sit for the board in the States? My LLM would be from London and I'm curious as to what states I could sit for back in the US. Any insight is greatly appreciated!
Thx!
Will an LLM allow you to sit for the boards?

Sorry for asking, but what do you mean by "sit for the board" ? Are you talking about the bar exam?

Yes, sit for the board is what I mean. Any thoughts on whether I would be able to in any of the States?
Thanks!
Thanks!

Most US law schools indicate on their website whether the LLM they offer will qualify to take the bar in the respective state. An LLM from the UK will normally not suffice to take the bar in the US. You should go through the New York bar rules
- see http://www.llm-guide.com/board/120 -
to find out about whether you fulfill the requirements. New York and California are said to one the states with the most "liberal" rules regarding bar access.

There is an interesting discussion about the California bar regulations: http://www.llm-guide.com/board/5074 (Foreign lawyer in the US? You don't need LLM.)
