UNICRI LLM (2014-2015 Intake)

I too am thinking of applying to the UNICRI LL.M. and I am doing my research on the chances of getting into the UN, after the LL.M. Before applying, I want to provide everyone the details I have so far, so that we can all share information on what we have between one another.
Most alumni who have managed to speak to me on facebook said that dont go to study in unicri just because you want to get a un job . Most only get to do an internship in the un, after which they go back to their countries.
I also got to speak to this alum from the 2013 batch and he was very helpful about providing me with some information about it. He said that the good thing about the course is that it is short, and said that was the reason why many people, mostly government ppl came to turin to study.
But regarding the placements he said, that there is no concept of placements at all - about 98% of the class is not successful in getting a job in the un, after graduation. There are some very basic classes on cv writing which he didnt find helpful at all. The UNV doesnt come for recruitment but mostly to advice students on what to do to better your profile nothing more. In his batch no body was recruited by the UNV. The international criminal tribunals are closing.
Some of his friends who went to the hague said, there were very few who knw about unicri. Most know about leiden or the graduate institute of geneva. The few lecturers who come into unicri from the tribunals are mostly Italian or some ex-icty staff who are now either in academics or something like that - one of them even said that for such careers its better to have another llm from a more known university like nyu etc. From the ICC, there was only one Italian staff who came to lecture but only for a day. This lecturer had studied from the graduate institute. None of the lecturers working in the tribunals or in icl topics had studied from unicri itself.
I then asked him about the quality of lecturing and he said on that his batch was quite divided. There were some teachers mostly in the beginning who were good, but then the ones coming in the end were not that great. people coming to lecture from the University of Turin, were not up to the mark. But one thing his batch mostly agreed that many of the lecturers listed on the website like the prosecutors from the ICC did not lecture students in 2013. Few judges from the icty came but these were 3 or four for perhaps only a week or so.
So in the end, my question was what is your next plan of action like and he said that he was content with his current job in is country. He said for him, getting a job with the un was really not the goal.
My goal is to work for the un which is why i am interested in unicri.
This basically now confuses me about what to expect from the llm This particular alum said that the ilo llms in the same campus perhaps may be better as they give a chance to paid internships after the llm thats if my goal was to work for an international organization.
I would still like to know if there are any other opinions out there?
Is there any other unicri alumni who can help and can give more information about working to a career in the un?

Well thank you for your information really helpful.
In term of plan, just like u, I plan to work for the UN or even working to the MOFA back in my country.
Considering your colleague's testimony, I'll check for this ILO campus. But, to be honest, I try to look UNICRI itself, simply because of the subjects studied, international criminal justice system alike. Previously, I've been waitlisted then rejected from ADH, then I found this UNICRI that seems interesting that probably I can use the knowledge that I will gain back to my country. I'll consider Graduate Institute and Leiden option as well, if it has a great opportunity to work for the UN. Again, thanks.

I just received an email that I have been accepted.
I need to decide whether I will enroll by 24 September and they didn't forget to remind me also the full payment for tuition by 3 October.

I'm totally in without scholarship and with the detail information like pp88. Be patient for those wait-listed. Is there any news from the other applicants?

I got an email yesterday and I'm on the waitlist.

I was accepted as well

Congratulations to you two for being accepted.
Should I hope for the same? Does anyone have any idea what are the chances of the wait-listed candidates?

Thank you, Garima. I read previous discussions regarding intake and a few people there were worried because they were wait-listed. But those people managed to get in after all.
I am sure that a few students will not accept an offer. I assume that proportion of them already started courses elsewhere as they were not sure and some will reject because of financial means as they might have applied because of the scholarship etc.
As I searched previous discussions, a few of admitted students were hesitant until the last minute whether to accept an offer.
I am in the same situation I guess.
So GOOD LUCK and definitely DO NOT give up yet!

I was wait listed too and am now working on the DOV. Is this program a Level 1 or Level 2 program? I could not find that information anywhere on the website.

Hi All - I got notified on Friday I was successful.
Perhaps they're just running through the countries alphabetically (Argentina, Australia)!
I'm struggling to get the DOV right, too.

DoV is a nightmare.
I went to the Consulate today. They told me there's only one person who does it. She isn't there.
Hopefully it'll get sorted soon.
