Hi guys
As decisions day approach, was wondering which I should choose: Chicago or lovely UVA with major scholarship?
My area of practice is M&A and I intend to pursue employment in the US afterwards. Some pros and cons:
Chicago
Pros:
- top 3/4
- strong in my area of expertise. Great in finance and economics
- big city
- smaller class
Cons:
- much more expensive than UVA
- difficult market to break into compared to NYC
- heard that it is really competitive culture (ie. Not fun)
- not well known in my country
- unsafe neighborhood (ie people got k** in the university surroundings)
UVA pros:
- much cheaper w scholarship
- lovely city at Charlottesville
- top 10
- culture seems more laid back
- pretty aggressive career services
- Dean is great
- 30 min away from ski resorts
Cons:
- small city with less opportunities to network during program
- ranked far below Chicago
- no lay prestige at all (both US and my country)
