Hi folks,
I have applied to a few law schools across US, UK and Netherlands and received the following offers:
University of Exeter - General LLM (choice of modules)
Queen Mary University of London - Technology, Media and Telecommunications Law LLM
University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign - LLM Intellectual Property & Technology Law ($25k unconditional scholarship from the university)
University of Amsterdam - LLM European Private Law
I am interested in pursuing an LLM that helps me in the industry and line of work I have pursued so far. This is largely technology, IP, contracts and inhouse work. I was inclined to apply only to the top institutes in Europe and US however I applied to some more universities in the UK as that seemed like the most favorable destination. I prefer studying in a majority English speaking country and hence I applied only in the UK and the Netherlands did not apply to other countries in the EU. One of the major factors for my consideration were also the university and law school rankings. Being an Indian national I also want to explore the opportunity to gain some work experience in the country I study for a couple of years. What would you suggest I go with?
Personally I am really interested in the Illinois LLM because of its specialization but US immigration seems like a big task to deal with and I can't make out anything about its reputation in legal studies from popular league tables and QS rankings. Also wanted to know which of these choices will maximize my chances to go for a JSD in a good law school in the US. Thank you!
