Summer school / summer internship

MartinG

Hi everybody,

I'm an Italian undergraduate law student (just finished second year) and I'd like to have some advices on how to usefully spend the summer break.
Premise: I know applications for summer 2010 are closed, I'm just trying thinking forward.

Summer school: besides American universities' summer programs, which usually tend to offer only introductory courses to american law, I was wondering if are there any other courses, similar to the LSE Summer School, which may have a more "practical" approach to commercial law matters (i.e. there's a Commercial UK Law course @ LSE).

Internships: it is not of common use in Italy to take internship before undergrad's last year (I know, I know...we do not have a strong work ethic culture :-(( ) so I was also wondering whether summer programs at law firms are also open to continental europe students?
I mean, for istance, I know Linklaters has a Global Summer Student's Programme (http://www.linklaters.com/JoinUs/JoinAsTrainee/Pages/GlobalSummerStudents.aspx) but I'm not sure I can apply for it.

Thanks!

Have a look at www.iflos.org, I couldn't find the fees on the web site just now but from what I remember, they are very reasonable.

As for internships/vacation placements - there is only one way to find out... apply!
