This is a repost since I posted this in the wrong section by accident:
I recently finished my 3 year LLB degree with a 2:2 honors from the University of London International Programme. I currently reside in Mauritus.
I now wish to complete the vocational stage of my training, the Bar Professional Training Course.
However, I am finding it difficult to get any centralized source of information where I could get a range of options to complete my BPTC, with the prices and eligibility criteria they entail.
The expenses involved with doing the BPTC in England are also very high, and I would like to know if there are less expensive but similarly valued options elsewhere(perhaps even other countries), or scholarships or options that could offset those expenses.
Would doing the BPTC in England, my home country or elsewhere have any weight internationally?
The University of Mauritius is an option too if I wish to practice law in my home country, but for the sake of experience and broadening my horizons I would like to, as far as possible, study elsewhere, but it must be financially viable to do so.
I would greatly appreciate any help that anyone here could give, be it advice from their personal experience with the BPTC or links to websites that specialize in this issue or offer further advice.

Hi Darlaw,
So far I was not aware that it is possible to do the Bar Professional Training Course anywhere else than in the UK. Sure you can qualify as a lawyer in other countries but will you get the same credibility in your home country? I am sure you wish to return to the UK eventually.
A lot of LLM students from the UK use the chance to sit the NY or California Bar Exam after finishing their LLM abroad but I guess this is rather expensive and not what you are looking for. Would you be interested to pursue an LLM program?

Thanks for the response.
I should've clarified that I am a Mauritian native, and that the LLB holds weight in Mauritius as well. I studied it via the University of London's distance learning programme as it was too expensive to study in England following certain changes they did at the time I completed my Secondary Education.
Thank you for clarifying that the BPTC is exclusive to the UK - there is a different barrister exam here that takes elements from both the UK and French legal systems, my main concern being whether it would let me perform legal functions in the UK as well as my home country. I will inquire the matter with those who have completed it in my country.
My main reason for wishing to study in the UK was to broaden my horizons and finally get some life and work experience outside my home country since I've spent my entire life here, but costs seem to undermine that option being a possibility.
As things currently stand I have no interest in pursuing an LLM degree, and it's likely I'll be forced to study at the University of Mauritius as it is by far the least expensive option at the moment.
I'll have to look further into which countries provide barrister training with a more international credibility, if there is such an option.
Thank you for your help.
