masters thesis

Hope91

Hello everyone,

I'm an international student in Canada and I'd like to apply for the LL.M program, the problem is that i need to submit a research proposal along with the admission application. However, i'm really struggling with coming up with ideas to my masters thesis.
I'm more interested in business and commercial law so can you please suggest any topics or issues ??? i'd really appreciate the help since the due date to my application is Jan 15.

as a start i narrowed down my search to bankruptcy law and principles, i thought maybe i can do a comparative study between my home country and Canada ??

or

I thought about different types of business entities and how to form and manage every type in terms of canadian law and my home country law?

please let me what you think or what suggestions you have!! people find it inappropriate to ask this and they started to give me uncool reactions but i find it really difficult to start because i kind of feel lost since i'm international student and i'm sort of losing hope..

THANKS!

Hello Hope91,
Your idea is not bad although it repeats what is already given.

If I'd be you, I look at the curriculum of a subject that interests you - so let`s say commercial law. Now focus on the curriculum of a module and choose a subject of more importance. Pick a current issue within this subject, maybe some contradictive cases or cases with different outcomes or simply a current issue that has not been resolved yet. After you have chosen the subject you should outline your research and how you will contribute. Make clear the relevance and significance of the project
Against the background research provided, you need to set out the contribution that your research will make. It is normally best to do this in the form of specific aims or research questions/issues. You can draw up your opinion that contains legal framework within the case but not give abstract advice.Be careful to choose a question of the right length though.
Hope this helps! Best of luck.
