Hello
I am planning to enroll my wife into a paralegal certificate course in the US. She is a law graduate from India and also has passed the Company Secretary exam from ICSI (India). Can anyone tell me which field in the paralegal studies attracts the maximum number of jobs? And what are the possibilities of her getting a job here after completing the course? Any additional information on paralegal studies is most welcome.

there r good paralegal opportunities, but i think she may not learn much out of it considering her excellent qualifications. it may be good just as a medium of earning some funds and getting engaged in some work rather than being at home idle.

Thanks Rahul. The main question will she get an H-1 visa sponsored after getting a job as a paralegal. Secondly, considering that she is a Company Secretary are there other options than paralegal in the US that we could look at? Please let me know.

visa questions are difficult to predict. it depends upon the requirements of the employer. but generally i think she will get it. as far as other opportunities are concerned for CS in US, In US i think there is no designation like CS like u find in india or UK, but the course or the designation 'company secretary' or 'charted secretary' are known world wide, hence it will add value to her CV in corporate's and in law firms which handle compliance work / corporate work. to conclude further it would be advisable in my view if she gets a job and does a part time J.D. or prepares for new york bar exam if eligible.

Thanks Rahul. I really appreciate your suggestions. But as a start do you think paralegal would me most suited?

paralegal will move the career path slowely and would need good amount of efforts. it would be great if she gets a associate or something like Jr. Associates position. one advantage in starting at paralegal level is one starts work from grass root level. so when u really grow up, people cant dump or fool u around..... i think....
