JD Advice for a Non-law graduate

hperera

Hello!

I hold a BA in Public Relations and Advertising from the US. It is my dream to pursue a degree in International Law or Business Law. Unfortunately, I discovered my passion for law too late into my BA to change my field but I wound up taking 300 and 400 level law courses to feed my interest. Having considered a career in law for over 2 years, I am open to starting my JD next year hopefully. I am planning on doing my LSAT's in June so I can be further qualified to apply and since my Undergrad GPA isn't stellar.

I would appreciate it if someone can advise me on the following:
a. Is doing a JD the right way to go?
b. How do I specialize in my field of interest within law? Do i do it after the JD or are there courses i can choose within my JD course to specialize in any of the above mentioned areas?
c. I would also appreciate it if someone can suggest some schools(universities) to consider either in the US, Australia, Europe (except the UK)

Any help in sorting out my confusion would be greatly appreciated as researching online has confused me even more.

Thanks in advance!

Read the news. Now is not a great time to start a JD program. My advice would be to go start a non-law career and see if you really want to be a lawyer for the right reasons. Then, try to attend a part-time JD program while you work. This is not a small decision in light of the current economy and JD graduate hiring statistics.
