Well, once you have figured out what you would like to get experience on you would need to start researching where you could apply. Be mindful that you cannot work for many government agencies and parties that work with the government if you are not a US citizen (some times you just need to be a PR). But most private sector firms, NGOs, and IOs should be fair game, most applications will have that in the eligibility criteria.

Bare in mind that the academic year in the US is ending in the next month (most schools are less than a month away from graduation) so for summer work (if that's what you're looking) it may be hard.

You will likely need a J-1 visa to come to the US for practical training if you're a student. A simple google search should give you more info on that. International orgs are different thought, and I think they carry a different permit.
