Just some weeks ago I was notified that I was selected as a Fulbright Scholar for my LLM.

When I went to the first meeting with the entire group they told us 2 news that I found pretty shocking and negative:

1. Fulbright scholarship may have a cap; therefore, it probably wont cover my entire LLM. They average grant is of 30k.

2. There are 4 principal candidates and 2 alternantes. They say they wont say who are the alternantes since they do not want them to be demotivated.

I will like to know if anyone of you is or was in this similar situation? Would you please share your experience?

Did you have to apply directly to the Universities or did the Fulbright or IIE did that for you?

Yes, they apply through the IIE. Which actually is not that good since they decide to which unis they apply to.

Well congratulations first of all. Getting there is already an achievement.

I am still waiting for the confirmation if I am alternate or principal so I have been strugling with the same question.

When did they inform you?

I have read online that it happens, sometimes principals back down or there are unexpected funds, so the alternates end up going.

I received the notification mid November. So far, there is no news, but they said final decisions will be made in Februrary. Hope you're in!
