Frequently Asked Questions about LL.M.

Commonly I get approached with a set of particular questions that are not covered on the FAQ page. For future reference I like to state my thoughts here:

What minimum grades are required to get admission to any law school?

Generally, the minimum grade to get into law school for an LL.M. is a 2:2 or GPA of 3 and above. Although an upper second class degree (2:1) /GPA above 3.3 is more common, in particular if you wish to apply to one of the top law schools. As they are very competitive you may be better of with a GPA of 4.
A few law schools in Europe dont have any grade requirements.

Claas GPA %
First - GPA of 4.00 % of 70+
Upper second (2:1) - GPA of 3.33 - 3.67 % of 60-69
Lower second (2:2) - GPA of 3.00 - % of 50-59

What is the application procedure??

The common application procedure requires you to fill in an application form, write a statement/ resume that shows your motivation for the subject and why you wish to study at a particular University and send all your certificates to law school (i.e. LLB grades). Generally they like to see two letters of recommendations (LORs). Details differ depending on the University you apply at.
In the United States a lot of applications are made through LSAC.
