Columbia with partial waiver vs. King's College with Chevening Scholarship

Dear all,

I am faced with the dilemma of deciding between Columbia with a $20,000 partial waiver and King's College with a Chevening Scholarship. Any thoughts would certainly be appreciated. Thank you.

If you can go to King's for, essentially, free I would jump at that. Columbia is one of the best law school's in the US but tuition alone at Columbia law is north of $50,000, which means you will have to come up with another $30,000 + $20,000-30,000 more for living expenses. King's may not be a top 5 law school but it has a very very strong reputation and does rank in the top 10 in the UK. When you think of top law schools in the UK, King's certainly is included with Oxford, Cambridge, LSE, UCL, etc. I don't think that an LL.M. from Columbia will give you more of an advantage than an LL.M. from King's, and I personally don't think it is worth $30,000 more.
